ReddRocket: got some BMW wheel ???'s
Your speedlines where actually made for BMW's right? I am looking into some Dronell's made for BMW's for my 2001 Z28 and was hoping you could answer some of my questions.
The wheels bolt pattern is 120mm compare to our 120.65mm but from what I understand that is close enough. I have the back spacing(offset) already figured out, but I don't get the hub part. Is the hub too big or too small? Will they bolt right up? I figured since 3rd gen and 4th gen hubs and bolt patterns are the same you might be able to help. Thanks

Hey Rally, E34 M5 is the original fitment for my Speedlines. The front wheels required the most modification. First you are correct about the bolt pattern they are close enough to each other where modification is not necessary. Second I had to have a 7mm spacer made because the center of the wheel was tapered and the wheel wouldn’t seat against the rotor properly. 7mm was just enough to clear with the grease caps removed and still maintain the factory wheel studs. Since I had removed the grease caps I sealed the wheel center caps to the wheels creating integrated “grease caps”. I also had a machine shop machine a groove into the center of the wheel so the rotor would have something to seat into making the wheel truly hub centric. Now the rear was easy just had to have a few thousandths cut out of the back to make it hub centric as well. I run a 10mm spacer in the back but it’s just so the car has a wider track. I hope this helps.

Glad I got ahold of you. Thanks for helping me out. I have a few more questions after reading your response.
What do you mean by the "the center of the wheels was tapered"? Would it not clear the caliper or what wouldn't it clear?
I don't know what grease caps are so could you explain the process in a little more detail? Is it on the end of the hub? Or are there more than one at each corner?
I have found that BMW's have a 72.5mm hub compared to our 70.5mm hub. Is this enough to cause a serious problem? How did the "groove" remedy this problem? What direction was the groove?
I don't understand how boring out the back made it hub centric? It seems to me that I'll need to add some material inside the wheel's center on the front and back to get it hub centric.
Sorry if I sound a little rude, but I have been researching this for awhile and have alot of very technical questions, but I don't really know much. I truly appreciate your help and willingness to share your knowledge on the subject. Also, if you want I can email you a pic of the wheels on a Mustang,
I know I know, so you can get an idea of what they look like.

Thanks for replying, hope you had a safe trip.
Okay, now it makes more sense. Do you lose grease with your "integrated grease caps"?
So BMW hubs are tapered, that's pretty crazy. Would you mind telling a little more on how you got them to match up? Was the hub too small or too big?
Thanks again.
