Fuel pump not kicking on now...

Ok I was getting fuel pressure when i first primed it. Pressure would jump up and it would run. I found the fuel pump relay (closest to the drivers side fener correct?) and i tried jumping wires like i was told to do.

When i jumped two of them the pump came on right.

then it stopped and i have no pump now. I even tried splicing them together and everything and i still dont have the fuel pump running.

HELP its the last thing i need to get my motor running.

:hail: to Vader. The fuse was blown. Replaced it and the pump primed again like it used to. We have the normal ground spliced into the fuse box like some suggested. pump still wont stay running. Earlier when i blew the fuse I jumped two wires on the fuel pump relay (closest to the drivers side fender correct) when i jumped the two outside terminals the fuel pump kicked on and i had pressure like i need. then that fuse blew i guess.

whats the best way to rig that fuel pump to supply fuel at all times when the key is on???

Not that the factory always knows best, but the electrical systems in our cars is better designed and built than most others. The best way to energize teh pump is probably the way the factory did it. Operate teh fuel pump relay for two seconds when teh ignition is first powered up, then drop the pump until the engine is turning. Back up the ECM driven system with an auxilliary switch driven by engine oil pressure to power the pump whenever the engine is turning, and you should have a fairly reliable fuel pump circuit.

In other words, put it back the way it was:

Well I changed alot back and spliced a hotwire from the fusebox and it works fine. so far so good. pump is working good and the pressure is good and shes running fine excpet i think the holley is messed up. its idling at 2500rpm and the idling screw isnt touching anything. I guess i should change the carb maybe? thinking about just getting a regular holley from work.,

You may have a severe vacuum leak. You may also need to check the secondary throttle stop adjustment to make sure they are fully closed, and the high idle cam.
