Ah...Why
Hey, I was wondering why it would be benefitial to wire in a relay when hooking up my foglights. What does a relay do? and how do you do it.

The relay will keep you from overloading either the lights or any other system, like the on/off switch. I would definatley use one. It's not hard to wire up and will save you alot of headaches in the future.
The main reason is going to be safety. Not using a relay means you're running hot or switched hot wires all over the car. Lots of potential problems there!
When you use a relay, the only hot wire is from the battery through the relay to the fogs. You may have a small hot wire from the switch to the relay but there's a lot less juice flowing through that wire than one running a pair of lights. If a wire ever rubs through on any of those ground wires, you don't pop fuses and/or start fires, things just don't work. If one breaks or comes loose it's a lot easier to find and diagnose.

Appreciate it-
