Holley Commander 950 Questions

here is the email i had with holley:

I have a 1988 Camaro. it has a 305TBI engine in it. im getting rid of
that and building a 383. i understand that the tbi and a wireharness that
will work with the 383 are not the same. for the commander 950, i was
wondering what all i should get. the intake is an LT1 intake on a non-LT1
engine (sbc). what sensors will i need and do you sell all the correct
adapting sensors? i am sorry to bother you with such a vauge question.
noone in town knows **** about fuel injection and the website is kind of
cluttered. thank you

Use the 950-105 LT1/LT4 kit. It will come with a 02 and MAp sensor. The
original Air temp and water temp sensor will work, And the IAC. Click on
address for particulars. You will need Distributor adaptor # 534-138.

are they serious? use the LT1 kit on a small block chevy with only an lt1 intake? and will this kit be all my wires. or will i need a speed density harness as well?

I have the Commander 950 system on my GTO. I looked at the Holley website and it looks like the system that they recommended would work fine. You can probably order the 950-109 kit. I am assuming that you will be using an HEI distributor. The commander 950 will work with many kinds of ignition systems.

Both systems will have a the harness as well as the sensors that you need. Holley uses standard GM connectors for all the sensors. Nothing too exotic.

I don't know who you communicated with at Holley, but you might want to post your questions in the EFI forum on chevytalk.com. Doug Flynn is the moderator. He is THE EFI guy at Holley.

Don't get that kit. It's set up for a crank trigger. If you are using a small cap ESC HEI, get the TPI kit. You'll have to change the TPS and IAC connectors if you are using an LT1 TB, no big deal. If you use a TPI throttle body it will all work.

The 109 is a universal kit. Go with the TPI which is a 950-101 and has the best retail price out there. Like I said, you will need to change the TPS and IAC connectors. The 109 harness won't "dress" as clean as the 101 with the throttle body in the front. The 101 kit will have the correct harness for the small cap HEI (the 4 pin connector, you need the 2 pin coil connector).
