Why does the car *** hate me?

I just go the tranny back from the shop today. the one i bought the tranny off ebay from a couple months ago....

"the story..."

Ok long story short, i bought a tranny off ebay. good price...supposed to be some badass tranny.

I get the tranny...wrong tailshaft but thats ok.. i put it in the car. i set detent cable. i fill with fluid. i start the car (while it is still on jackstands). reverse shifts fine. I then go into neutral...fine, then OD....
...nothing........then Drive..slowly goes into gear. test drive it. every gear slipping badly. email the guy, he blames me for improper detent cable. i call him. i send it back (i have to pay for), he honors warranty....rebuilds it....sends it back...

"current news..."

ok so i get the tranny back today, install it without a single problem.....well cept, THERE'S NO F**KING OVERDRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am seriously about to drive the car off a bridge.

what should i do? mind you, the car is in mesa, az.....his shop is in tarpon springs, FL!

I smelling some kind of refund...this is the 2nd time that you've had to deal with it having a problem. Do all the rest of the gears work right?

I bought a 700R4 fully tricked (or so they say) with torque converter on May 7th and by July it's dead...just like you I had to change the tail shaft on it....i think i might try and get a refund and see if I can find something some place else.....any suggestions anyone?

Not in Florida... I went to a place here in AZ called "Quality Trasmission" and they did some awesome work. I had almost everything but my gears and bell houseing replaced. They do full on trannys there to (they do supply GM manufactured parts if needed) and I liked thier service. Good pricing too! I'd post the # but I can't remember what I did with thier card!

damn man...that is the EXACT place. so yah, the first tranny they sent me did the same thing, so i had to pay to ship it back to them, and then they "fixed" it and sent it back. I installed it, and had the same focking problem. i am out of money, and i don't know what to do.

my car just sits.....longer...

Get on the phone, file a complaint if they don't honor their work. Call the BBB, or your states Attourney General.

The Attourney General can actually, LEGALLY do something about this. The BBB can simply black list them but as far as getting your money back or comphensation you'd be SOL.

If you can't get a refund have a trans shop look at it, it may be something simple like a 4th gear switch gone bad.

What happened to me was that I was playing in traffic and these guys in a lincoln continental (yep lincoln) thought they had a race car and wanted to test me. So I play with them for a little and then once I decide to put them out of their misery and I get like 50ft ahead and steady pullin.......white smoke out the rear and I smell the tranny fluid on the pipes.....it makes it home but once I try and move it again it will not shift from 2nd to 3rd. I will give them another try but 1st time shame on me 2nd time shame on you and fok the 3rd cuz your A$$ is mine....90RS305 if you find the # send it to me if you wouldn't mind.

Kenneth

damn..

that sounds pretty ****ty. at least yours worked for a while. this guy (Jim), keeps trying to blame me. both times we installed the tranny, we started the car while it was still in the air on jackstands..

The second time, it seemed like OD kicked in, so when let the car down, backed out, and put it in OD, and the car would just barely move if you revved to about 4000 rpm. If i pull it down into D, it will kick into gear, but it is NOT pulling as hard as it used to. When i called him back, he told me, "It sounds like something is wrong with you car.."...

I am so pissed off....i am going to call him in a little bit and see what he says.

Update....

I just called and spoke to Dave there. He told me to take the car to a local tranny shop so they can diagnose the tranny and make sure the Detent cable is properly set. He said he will pay, so i am gunna take it down there tomorrow. I'll keep this post updated..

Anyone have any suggestions on where i should take it to in mesa area?
