Mark Jackson just went a 9.41 at 141 with his GN.
Using a MaxEffort MAFless Chip.
Oh, on the default settings.......

Oh, and there was a fair amount of time refining things on an ecm bench to get the tweaks right in the modified code.

As far as the engine management changes needed, it was converted to MAP, and swaped out the injector drivers.

83 PPH injectors in this lil v6.

I'd tell you more, but I'd have to shoot you afterwards.
LOL,
9.4s,
WOW,
Kinda cool being associated with a project that goes that fast.

Like I've been saying, source code, ecm benchs, and testing all pays off.
And there is no fudging of IC numbers, guessing of AFR, etc..
Steve (Mr Maxeffort), and Mark have done their homework.

good work. now get it into the 8's with the same ecmn and still be able to street drive it. ill really be blown away then. and looking at the injector size id think 8's were just some boost away.

...or some cubes.

Those numbers are really starting to make that twin T76/406 look pretty inviting. Now to only find a frame that will take it all...

Last year at Etown in the time trials I had a Turbo/Nitrous fed GN blow past me right at the traps at 150+ MPH.

You might ask, at the traps? Yeah right. Well he only turned a 12.7 sec 1/4 mile time! On regular street tires. His 60' time was 2.5 sec, lol.

The car looked pretty hairy, so when I almost got to the traps and was ahead in my beat 350 equiped motor running high 12s I was impressed, that was until he went past me like I was standing still. Scared the hell out of me.

Talk to the guy in the pits and he said he wasn't taking it back down till he got some tires under it. I agreed that would be a good idea, before he killed someone.

But as the fella above said, its amazing what power adders can do. 4 cylinders running 8s 1/4s.

Sorta like two groups of people climbing Mt Everest. One gets there by hiking and another gets there by way of helicopter. Both can say they reached the top I suppose. At the end of the day, it only matters however to the personal goals of each group.

A better analogy would be,
one group practising, and doing their homework, and then just going out and doing it, vs grabbing a back pack and getting halfway and wondering why they're having problems.

That was a 9.4 with the default settings. Default meaning conservative, ie just to establish a baseline.
He knows where he is tune wise, and doesn't have to guess, or wonder what's going on.
Now if he wants, he can look at his EGTs, WB, Plugs, and decide if he wants to crank it up. Or if he goes to another track or the weather is different he can adjust for that.

Bottom line is that he still did what he did with a stock ecm. He did his homework, and was rewarded with great results.

Not To get off subject, But there is a new record on DOT tires that was set by a Grand National - The time was 7.98 @ 168 he expects to hit a 7.7 this year @ 180, That pass an intercooler clamp broke dropping boost to 25 lbs hence low trap speed.

Now are you ready for this? It was with a destroked 231,Destroked to 207 Ci - That gives me wood!

Bruce,

This is Brendan. I've stopped down by your house a few times with my dad and the 87 camaro. My uncle is Mark Jackson, the one I was talking to you about a year ago. I was at Norwalk last Friday when he ran the new setup.

I helped him burn the new max effort imagine, the revised one that Steve sent him

He thumbed down from A to 7 so he did adjust. The first pass was at 10.17 with teh defaults. He kept lowering the fuel each pass. His last and best pass was at 9.46 at 141.6. He was at 36lbs of boost down to setting 7 on the fuel.

And yes, that car is bruttal and VERY quiet. I've helped work on it first hand. Constant and very consistant 1.3 60's all day long.

OK, he made changes.

A->7, that would be poistions 7-8-9-A, so he made 4 changes to go from a 10.17, to a 9.4?, that's still incredible in my mind.

Does MJ live up by you?.

Yes MJ lives a couple streets away from me. Chris, you let the secret slip

Anyways, i'm in the process of converting my 87IROC over to a GN setup. I have the wiring done and Janis transmission is going through the tranny right now. Waiting on motor mounts and such now.

Grumpy, drop me an email at leirch@hotmail.com , we can arrange a time to go over and see his car, you can talk to him and check it out first hand. Its approximatly 60miles or so from your door step

Brendan
