Folks,
I've set up a file upload area for those interested in sharing files. Content such as ECU definition files, ADS datastream definition files, and ECM Hack / source code is welcome. Anonymous or otherwise, no FTP interface is required. Just browse and upload.

Yes, anything of interest that you want to upload. If you upload a modified bin, please include a good description of what you did and what kind of application you have it running on...

Great service. I'll upload some of the other files I've collected over the years. The code 43 patch and rev limiter patchs should be located in a public domain.
Thanks Craig!
BTW, could you add a directory for hacs, one for bins, and another for misc just like how the ftp.diy-efi.org site.

OK, I think it's fairly sorted out now. Got a set of folders and what-not as follows:
1) Stock Binaries
2) Custom Modified Binaries
3) Binary Editor Definitions
4) Datastream Definitions
5) Source Code and ECU Hacks
6) Miscellaneous Uploads
Hope this helps. If you've got something that ends up in the wrong place or whatever, let me know at craig@moates.net what you want to do.

Do you want to make a link to the bins that i have? http://www.efi-tuning.org/bins/
There are probably over 1000 of em or are you trying to keep descriptions with them. It would take too long to add any descriptions to that many bins unless you wanted to take the time to document them all, there would be no need for me to host them then or maybe we can cross link between them? Is there any place that has descriptions of what they are say abtz means ?? Most know the common ones.

Thanks Craig! I've been looking for a legit site for bins, etc.
There is one other site I trust. www.truspeed.org/bins.html
I still don't know why diy-prom doesn't have the hacks, bins, etc? Everyone else does...

I know just coincidence.
But, the DIY .bin library has been around alot longer then **your** collection.
Nice to see you contribute **your** hard work.
Thanks for being so generous, with **your** work.
Let me again say thank you for **your** work.

Grumpy Grump (whom I indescribably value) - I don't see where he said anything about the collection being a result of his hard work. I think he just said "the bins that I have."
Truth is, I can find and post 3 links to this exact library right now. And lets not forget that the DIY-EFI library was down for a number of months, spawning the idea that libraries should exist elsewhere too.
We all know who contributes around here. And we all know what its like to feel "under-appreciated." Not sure getting bunched up about it gets anything accomplished, however. I don't know, though, I could be wrong. Maybe it is worth it. Carry on, then.

I was downloading a couple dozen of the more common .bin files. No sense having to cross link to some site just mirroring other people's work.
I don't argee with the custom modified .bin idea. Since it promotes inbreeding. And the temptation to post other *tuners* work.

Odd your collection looks almost exactly like the .bin library I put together for DIY-EFI.

Folks,
What would be appropriate? What I could do is have a subdirectory under 'Stock Bins' called 'DIY-EFI GMECM Bins'. Is there any other due credit that should be given? By all means, I want to make sure everyone who wants credit gets it.
That being said, I REALLY hate to see anything like this stifled with respect to freedom of exchange. If we all have to go out and reinvent the wheel, then the state of the art will never progress beyond the capacity of a single contributor's role.
To summarize, if anyone has concerns with respect to copyright issue or wants to see credit given for particular content, let me know and I'll deal with it.
Thanks.

Not to mention the *who* was. Are you familiar with the site that wanted the link?. Or their repeated trash talking?.
It's laughable, that they went to such extremes to trash this site, and now want a link to their's.
I'm never in a bunch about anything related to the Net.
But, I'll also speach my mind as appropriate.
Anyway, the site seems up again, so time permitting I'll be loading more stuff there, so folks don't have to surf around and waste their time looking for misc stuff.

What next acting the victim (I like the *since DIY-EFI was down*)?. Was there some inference that since it was, you shouldn't at least credit them with their work?.
You've made every attempt to publiclly trash this site, and then waltz in acting pure of heart.
No board war, just stating facts so people are clear on what's going on in case they missed, your game playing.
It's DIY-EFI, and the folks that did the reaearch and contributing you owe the apology to.
Bye.

And it's not about freedom of exchange.
It's about fair play, and honesty.
Do you ever wonder where the big contibutors went?.
There were some heavy hitters that did alot behind the scenes that have left. Primarily from being taken for granted, and stolen from. The pirates and thieves, have really ruined alot of good things, and killed alot of terrific projects. And as long as folks endorse the *anything's OK* mentality, they'll stay gone. And it's a huge shame, IMO. If your (meaning whoever's reading this), just look at the Super AUJP thread. Most want something out of it, but there's only a couple guys willing or able to do the heavy lifting. We have plenty of folks hitting reply, and lurking, what's needed is more contibutors (menaing with original material).

I didn't post it for a war which you clearly would like to have, it was directed at Craig to see if he wanted to document them which would be alot of work. No one is trying to take credit or steal credit for em, i didn't get them together they were given to me so that people could have access to them, maybe you should look and see that biggest instigator and the one who made the most direct insults to you is once again registered on this site.
If this list came from diy-efi then yes credit goes to all those people who put it together, i have no intention or desire to take credit for it. If *** you *** desire to continue go for it, i have no desire to do so. I'm not playing at being anything and could care less what you think, i could care less about you. I've talked to alot of the "heavy hitters", I still talk to some on a regular basis, i know why they left and i know who started the ecm hacking that we are all benifiting from today.

There was some things I wish I didn't say. And everyone here has accepted my apology. Dont try to shift the weight on me,bud. I think grumpy might have a valid point. You remeber how I busted my *** for ETO. I did all the work(you took it and ran). Maybe like you did with all the hacks, bins.

Don't have to act anything, i still have all the post/emails/IM's to prove any point that i care to which has nothing to do with this posting. Please stop emailing me, no you cannot get back in, banned is permanant.
you have stuff that you maybe changed some words around. I also saved all the crap you talked about glenn, grumpy, traxion and others. But I'm not going to play games. I'm not here to have personal conversations on the diy-prom board. You don't want to reply to my emails then fine, don't tell me on the board. I was just tryng to help you.
BTW, I see you stripped down www.efi-tuning.com
Guess the mail order chip business didn't pan out.

What a joke, I'm just setting the record straight.
So when can we expect to see you cure that oversight, and correct your site to give full and complete credit to DIY-EFI?. I find it odd, that I have to even mention this, if you're so in tuned to giving credit where credit is due.

Yes, code mods and patches are most welcomed. Please include as much documentation as you feel is appropriate. Err on the side of excess.
I don't know what those UNI files are, maybe sound files? Someone uploaded them. If they're not claimed, I'll probably toss em.
If there's some hard feelings among some, please as they say "take it outside". If you would like to ensure that specific individuals or groups get credit for content posted at my site, let me know who and I'll try to make sure it is prominently identified so that things are clear. Vagaries and allusion don't cut it in this, do they?

Man, this is starting to sound like a soap opera...
Why don't we all have a beer and be happy?
Kudos to all who have worked so hard to put this stuff in the public eye. Let's keep it that way...
Lest we all go the way of www.customefis.com ...to the Dark Side of the Force with the Sith and Lord Vader.

ok ive been staying away lately becuase of the constant on sluaght. i see i left for a while and its still here. What to do. i dunno. if you think that people deserve credit thats gret. then give them credit. i dont see anybody denying that to anyone. so lets drop the subject. if somebody wants something for there hard work $$, time, ideas, information, sweat equity etc thats great to. im all for it. nobody gets anything for nothing. be it the free exchange of ideas or other wise. so lets get real about this thing ok. if you have something i want or a skill i need to make use of i always offer a $ incentive. so let stop the goddamn bs and move on already.

I guess since it's not your work, it's easy to dismiss it as not being meaningful. Maybe you should put yourself in another's shoes before making light of their work.
It's more about where do you (as well as others) want to go?. Do *we* just go around acting like none of it matters?, or as a group start caring, and acting for the betterment of the hobby?.
Me?, I'm for acting in the best interests of the hobby, and trying to push the hobby forward. I'm not into taking it for granted.
I'd perfer to have a beer, over some accomplicement, then *just cause*. Like say having this community actually do something meaningful as a group.

My intention was not to trivialize anything, Grumpy. Maybe I worded it wrong. I sincerely apologize if what I said was taken as such. I respect the work that you have done. I also appreciate the fact that you are willing to assist others so freely...particularly myself. If you look at the stuff I have posted in the other forums (www.JeepsUnlimited.com for example) you will see that I make sure to give ample credit where credit is due...as should others. I do not disagree with you at all. As a scientist (marine biologist and grad-student-mariculturist) I can definitely understand the value of citing one's sources in his/her works. I do it each and every time I write up a research paper (or even my original research) for a class or a pub. I can also understand your frustration in this matter. I will be the first to admit that without sources like TGO and DIY-EFI, there is no way on ***'s green earth that I could have even gotten CLOSE to completing the project that I just finished. I also believe in keeping work/information like this in the public eye. If someone wants to outright plaigarize it, then by all means, stomp his/her(their) ***(es)! If someone deserves credit for a particular piece of work, then so be it.
Again, Grumpy, I did not in any way intend to belittle or trivialize your efforts. I was simply trying to throw a little humor into the mix to just say the same thing you just said...let's all work together as a community/board. I personally have learned a great deal from this board and I continue to learn from it. I also believe in "keeping the karma alive" so to speak. If I can help someone else in a project with the knowledge I have gained, then I will do so. If I can't, I will refer them to someone that is able/qualified to help them. If I use what someone else has posted/published/told me, I make very certain that I state where my information originated.
Beers to ya!

Throwing one's hands up, and saying I quit doesn't accomplice anything.
Letting things bottle up, and not saying what needs (or what someone feels need to be said) doesn't do anyone any good.
Not trying to understand the other guys view also doesn't help.
Also, being just the written verse this media leaves alot to be desired in some ways.

I've tried to understand, and I guess I do to a large extent. A vision of the clean path forward eludes me though. Hence the frustration.
Most people aren't serious, dedicated, stubborn or interested enough to do what you guys did. My impression is Grumpy is all four. For every serious guy there are probably 50 guys who want it all handed to them. I was amazed when I first came to this board at what was available. But a lot of people are too lazy to search a little. I have some self taught (books) programing experience. Obsolete industrial stuff. So I have an idea what you guys did. The tediousness of what was involved is clear to me in the 101 files. My excitement only lasts for 2-3 weeks so I couldn't have done what you guys did in near the same amount of time. The Autoprom and Prominator show what just a few people collarborating can accomplish. Kudos to both groups. I've seen a few of the new guys like me that might be able to do something, but we all are trying to get to a level that might be productive.
I won't sing the tired old song of "If I knew more I'd help." I'm actively trying to learn so I can be of some help. I just get real busy sometimes so I dissappear for a while. I need to quite watching TV too.
Should I have put this in Craig's other post?

The human species is selfish; it's never going to change.
I feel for Grumpy and RBob, I know how they must feel and thank *** they're strong enough to suppress there emotions on this board. Sure it slips out every once in a while but their still here which suggests that they, unlike leeches, are better men than most. I'm not here to praise them or berate others but I can only hope that they and the rest of the contributing community will focus less on the leeches and more on the grateful few, me included.
This website for hosting files is great and I'm all for it. I would have liked to have been able to contribute to the ftp site at diy-efi.org but I can't remember that last time I was able to upload.
My next and final suggestion is that there be a directory for data logs zipped with a description of the vehicle and basic comments like "this chip stumbles when it's really cold right off idle" or "this chip has gotten me the best mileage, check out the data log." I think this would make for some great general comparisons if say everybody is having troubles getting a stable idle or prevent detonation in highway mode with a specific mask.
I have some data I'd like to have uploaded to this site regarding my 3rd gear shift and knock detection but images only is a real bummer.
Again, thanks for the support and FWIW, your adaptors work flawlessly, my Dad very happy with the final Tune. So much so that he's planning on keeping the suburban for a few more years.
