Trouble with Knock. Input appreciated.
I loaded up TRAXION's Super AUJP bin a couple nights ago and have been data logging and reading knock retard in the 2400-3600RPM range at higher MAP values. The Knock retard is telling me up to 4.6* of KR at 3200RPM, 92kPa, and temp @ 175*F.
The BLM and INT values hold steady at 128 when I do the WOT blasts but I get knock retard and can hear what I've been told knock sounds like [rocks in a coffee can], although it could be an exhaust leak [which I'm going to fix tonight].
I've been trying to tune it out by playing around with the main spark advance table but I'm still hearing it even though I'm at the stock AUJP timing values. The VE tables are still stock AUJP as given in Super AUJP.
One thing I have been wondering about is what octane fuel S_AUJP is supposed to be used with. I'm still running 87 octane gas, should I be running premium or mid-grade with this tune?
Thanks in advance, this board is a wealth of knowledge that I really appreciate

Well, most of my "knock" was an exhaust leak. I think I can still faintly hear it though.
I went on a trip today and got 20MPG average. I'm ecstatic about it, that's 25% better then I've ever got in the car before. I was unable to bring the laptop to datalog, but I attribute most of the gain to disabling the EGR. I'm sure there are quite a few factors, but I know that the Code 32 was killing my mileage
Super AUJP
Does anyone have any suggestions? If not, I'm going to try adding fuel via the VE table to see if it'll cure my problem.

Long term, the premium fuels always paid for themselves with fewer overhauls. In some applications there wasn't much of a difference, but I can't remember once, where the lower octane fuels showed any long term saving.
Typically you'll see better mileage, and fewer carbon related repairs with the higher octanes.

That's good info to have. I'll give it a shot with my next tank of fuel and see if it helps decrease my knock.
Didn't you say that you still run 87 in your 454 truck? Is it because you're looking for maximum economy [without hurting the motor] vs. performance?
