Combining Trans-Am and Camaro bodies together

Imagine an '87 Camaro With '89 Trans-Am front quarter panels and cowell hood (complete with flip-up headlights). Now shave about 4 + inches off of the backside of the '87 Camaro nose piece to mach up to the hood and quater panels. Top it off with a Trans-Am hatch (so you have the brake light on the glass), and the end result is my car. Her name is Sebrina, and I call her a "Trans-28 Stingray" ('82 Corvette Stingray engine). I wish I could say I did it myself, but unfortunately I baught it that way. However, I have since gutted the computer and Cross-Fire feul injection to go straight carb. I would love to see pictures, if anyone has done anything similar, and I will try to post pictures of Sebrina as soon as she's ready.

What is everyone's obsession with combining the bodies of Camaros and Birds? Daaaah that drives me nuts...

I can understanding using replica hoods back and forth, or swapping between generations, but why go through the trouble of combining the physical bodies of the cars? It would just confuse me and hurt my eyes every time I looked at my car...

Just my opinion....

That's cool, Guys. I underdstand completely ( I'm a Chevy man through and through), but like I said I didn't DO it. I BAUGHT it. Whoever did do it did a great job though. It's almost impossible to tell what it is at first or second glance. I guess that's why I liked it. Plus it's the only Camaro I've ever seen that has flip headlights. I dig the aerodynamic appearance.

I think it's pretty slick, if it had the lower GFX goin' on in the front it'd look a bit nicer, but damn, that's unlike anything I've seen on a 3rd gen - I dig, I dig

Nah your car is fine... wheels and spoilers don't bother me... it's more the combining bumpers and body panels and taillights and such.

I must say that car is very well done.

Nicely done! I like it. Very impressive. I think it looks just fine, no need to put GFX on it.... though it may turn out good. Whatcha got in it ? stock engine ?

Got a '82 Corvette Stingray 350 4 bolt. Removed computer and crossfire injection, and with an Edlebrock 600 and an old Holly intake manifold that I had acidbathed and painted. Looks bran-spankin new under hood. Engine pics coming as soon as the finishing electrical touches are done. (still finishing the FI to Carb transformation)

Two things. I like the concept, but the bumper looks to have originally been an S/C Camaro bumper, not an IROC/Z28...

The other thing, there was no 82 Stingray. Last year for the Stingrays was mid 70s. Just an FYI.

Overall I like the concept, but for me, I'd wish it used a Z28 Camaro bumper.

Is the rest of the car Firebird or Camaro? rear?

Actually, that looks very fiero like to me. Anyone else see them. The lower part may be a Camaro bumper, but it really reminds me of a Fiero.

I don't know why some people are calling things obsessions...there are hardly any Transmaros/Cambirds around. So obsession? I don't think so...I like it...its very unique and very well done and clean looking. Its like nothing else so be proud, thanks for sharing.

Right under the picture of the manual it says...

This repair manual covers all Chevrolet Corvette Stingray models from 1968 to 1982 with v8 engines ... blah blah blah... you get the idea.

Plus I just remembered when i found a paper under one of the seats from when it won a car show in AL. The paper described it as an '87 Camaro, with '89 Trans-Am front quarters hood and headlights, with '82 Corvette Stingray engine.

I will have to agree with you on the " IROC/Z-28" portion of your coment , though.
The vin number states that it was originally a "base" Camaro.
It does have the t-tops and the 5 inch spoiler, though, now, but no ground efx.
Maybee I should call it a "Trans-Maro Stingray", instead of a "Trans-28 Stingray".

(I wonder if I could combine ground efx kits from Trannys and Cams in order to... hmmm

Sounds like too much work, and money. I like Sebrina the way she is.

Just found this.

the other thing you could do with the front like that since your running a carb is to get a L69 dual snorkel air cleaner set up and run the ducts to where the Firebird turn signals were, and use the Camaro part for the turn signals.

68-82 Corvette bodies were often referred to as Stingray's, but there were only Stingrays until 1976. Here are reference points.

Also, call the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY.

http://www.advanceautoparts.com/howt...20031101C3.htm

http://usedcorvettesforsale.com/1976.shtml

http://chris.barr-fam.com/76_vette.html

Not trying to be confrontational, I just want you to know what you've got. I also know this from years of Corvette study. Not only have we owned a 67 Corvette, we still have our 1979 model with the L48 engine.

Wow, that sucks.

Acording to the Advanced Discount Auto Parts write up, my engine sucks!

I think I'm gonna run the numbers on it and pray that it actually isn't an '82. hehe

Its not all bad. Even if it is an 82 350, it was still rated at 200hp with the Crossfire garbage on there.

So if you've done some upgrades, you're probably above the 200hp mark.

Sorry, didn't mean to jump your $#!t. I honest to goodness thought I was right. I mean, shoot, did you see the web pages I found? Especially the one with the manual. I thaught, "Man, how could that be wrong?" Oh, well.

...and "Trans-28 Stingray" was such a cool sounding model description.
