right next to the hood release is a tiny black button. when the car is on and you press the button the alarm chirps. it doesnt do anything else.its the stock alarm that came with the car so i dont think the button was put in after. does anyone one know what its purpose is?

 

sounds like a kill switch for the alarm

did you get the car new ? are you sure that it is the stock alarm ?

 

High probability that it's a "valet" button to put your alarm in to "valet mode".
