Pertronix HEI modules

I was looking on the Pertronix site and they list replacement HEI electronics modules that mount inside the distributor and drive the coil harder. Has anyone tried one of these? Do they make one for our remote-coil distributors? Are they worth a crap?

I've always heard a good stock GM module is good enough. Most part store modules don't have a variable dwell circuit in them. The aftermarket modules are more for if you're pushing 8k rpm all the time, since lack of coil saturation at high rpm's would be the only downfall of a stock module

The only reason I would see to buying one would be if you were blueprinting all your ignition components for maximum performance. As for Petronix, I can't lean one way or the other.

I installed a Pertronix "Flame Thrower" module and coil - however I installed them after doing extensive modifications to the engine so it's hard to say if I had noticable gains from them. It ran good though and they're going into the new engine build!
