project 82LT1 goes to the dyno..again
Hello,
been a while since I posted.. going to grad school, getting married etc..
the LT1 has been running fine for 17k miles and it became time for a change.. it ran 13.4 @ 104 in bolt on mode, but I wanted a bit more so this weekend I put on a set of ported heads by Lloyd Elliot and his LE2 cam...
Here is the dyno graph after computer tuning at carolina auto masters.. the car came in with a poor mail-order tune at 351 rwhp, 341 tq.. after tuning the car pulled a very repeatable 372 rwhp and 360 tq... hobbled by edelbrock tes headers, I need better exhaust! Texas gunning for you buddy

LE (Llyod Elliot) Heads (AKA Port and Polished LT1 heads), and a LE2 Cam (Llyod Elliot custom grind to match the heads
)with headers and a PCM tune + cutout.Lloyd rocks, he is a damn good porter and he is right here in Texas about 30-40 minutes from dallas. He can get flow numbers up to .180 out of stock lt1 heads and up to .200+ out of lt4 heads. He also makes custom grind cams after flowing the heads to match them up for some unbeatable prices, I believe his stage I is just about $1200 with a cam. Llyod rocks!

13.4 @ 104 was with edelbrock headers, borla catback, electric water pump, street tires, 52mm tb, 3/4 tank of gas, 3395 llbs with no driver..
in that trim it dynoed at 288hp and 328 tq..
I have always thought the true measure of a car was to run it exactly as it sits on the street, and as such I do NO special prep for the track, not even to warm the tires..the car is built for everyday driving, handling, stopping and going.. the goal was to scare a few C5s into thinking they may have engine trouble..
the current setup it just dynoed with is:
LE2 billet cam in the 230s intake 240s exhaust, on a 110 lsa...
the heads are fully ported with larger 2.0/1.56 REV valves, CC 987 springs, Gm guideplates, and Lloyd Elliots port job (Do a search for him on CZ28.com)
Pasky you are right on, flow numbers are in the high 260's intake and high 180s exhaust..
Thunderracing hardened pushrods
CC Comp R lifters
CC pro-magnum 1.6 RR
I slightly sand rolled the ports on the intake..
the exhaust is Edelbrock TES, highflow Cat, and Borla Catback..
The blue number is uncorked
the number below through the muffler
the first number is what I came in through the door with surging and idling like crapola..
That is it.. if it wasn't for this board I would still have a carbed 305..

Thanks again for following the mods, I really wasn't sure if anyone was paying attention.. I pretty much just took ideas from here and there and looked here for motivation and applied it to what I wanted.. I am usually too busy to be a consistent poster but will finish my site soon and get on TexasLT1s swappers registry..

I feel rather good that my N/A numbers are close to your N/X numbers on an LS1.. though your torque blows me to pieces

You just about convinced me to go the LT1 route since you had a nice clean install, but the deal fel through...
I'm assuming by you mentioning your "n/a numbers" that you have plans for a power adder in the future.....

I tried to keep the install as clean as possible.. but when I started the swap the conversion motor mounts and tranny mounts for LS swaps weren't available.. if they had been, there would be an LS engine with heads and cam getting dynoed.. I went with what I knew I could do with a minimum of problems..
LS engines have the best induction system.. though their flow numbers will knock 23 degree heads silly
not sure if I mentioned either, the RA2 hood is gone now, just a stock cowl flat hood is on now.. I like it better..

It didn't fit right ever.. even after four hours or so of tweaking..
it was cut to sit better on a car with gfx late 80s on up..
the cowl hood actually works well for me, I went CAI and relocated the battery to the back, car hooks better..
but can still make the tires beg for mercy
just for giggles here is a pic of a Lloyd Elliot intake port..
