South Central Region Car Show
How many folks would attend a central meeting. Let's get a count of where everyone is from. I like the idea of Austin being central but we really need to see where people will be traveling from to be as fair as possible.
If we can get some solid commitment I will take some time to help coordinate a meeting place if we decide to chose Austin since I am near there. I would also be willing to work with another Regional Representative if we select an alternate location.
We can do a show that requires a pre-paid admission and get some trophies and awards / giveaways. If this sounds interesting then say so!
We may be able to find a spot where we can rent a track.. Just an option to throw out there. Maybe just better off with a picnic / car show style. Just need to see what the majority says.
So lets hear your opinion
I am also going to throw some timeframes out there.
I am thinking when the weather gets a little cooler. Early November?

I love the idea of a central car show.
When do the tracks close? perhaps one more show b4 that so we can run the cars again before the next summer gathering?

I just emailed the owner of Temple Acadamy Dragway in Temple, TX. Bout 45 mins north of Austin. We will see what he says. If the track is open year round I would love to take advantage of some nice cool fall weather!

Oh Hell YEAH I'd be interested!! I guess it shows something since the only 3 people who replied live from Central texas, lol.
Scott, man, I'd help plan everything. I've thought about the Texas-Wide Thirdgen gathering some.
Scott and Steven (the Austin guys) could meet up with the DFW people cruisin' down 35.
The SA guys could cruise up 10 and hit 304 and cruise right into Bastrop and meet up with me.
Then the Austin/DFW peps can cruise down 290 to Giddings and meet the SA/Bastrop guys (me, lol) at the Wal-mart in Giddings. Then we could all cruise to Lake Somerville ( I know a great curvy road to get us to Lake Somerville!), and meet the H-Town gang there and have a huge bar-b-que.
Or we could all meet and go to a track

But I'll go along with anything ya'll want. I just wanna go to the track when I'm done!

I'm in. Coming from Dallas.
Fall and cooler weather would be awesome. Just leave me enough time to drive to Houston when we are done, I will stay with a girl that I know.

I'm in the Dallas area, and this sounds like a good deal to me - especially if it includes some track time on a strip! September to October would be best for me (just not the last half of November, won't be around).
Have a Great Day!!!

Maybe the name of this thread isn't what people are looking for. I think most people wont check out car shows, but gatherings would probably be viewed more.
Also, does Austin and Houston have any clubs that we need to go to there forums and invite them?

Hey Guys. I have not been on here in awhile but I would be interested in attending a gathering/car show somewhere in the Central Texas area. I am also looking to meet up with more 3rd Gen guys in the Austin area. Hey Scott, long time no see. Where do you go to check out cars now these days? I have been going up to RPM Racing on I-35 in RR and the turn out was pretty good tonight. About 25+ cars.

You will be pleased to know there is a nice gathering getting together at the Whataburger off 1431 and Parmer Lane.
About 30 some odd cars out there this evening. Get the guys on out there next weekend!

F-Body Meet at Heat Wave, then cruise to a car show after that, followed by some hooters or something.
Any takers?

Sounds a little too organized for me..
I was planning to head out there with two friends sometime in the morning.
From there I was thinking baking in the sun for a few hours and then heading back to the house to relax.
Maybe hit the car gathering up North here afterwards if we have the energy.

There has got to be more than just 6 people going? Their needs to be a lot more if people are going to be driving 130mi!! People talk to your groups.

How about the Houston people, anyone let them know about this yet? I know some of them have trouble reading the South Central Region board.
