Anyone have any pix of a 82 or any third gen Camaro Fuse Box Mounted Stock... Mine is a Mess I will Post some Pix Tonite or tommorw but... i just wanted to know what it looks like stock and hows it mounted and stuff

I see a WHOLE bunch of bad wiring in there at the very least.

Those wires stuffed in next to the fuses are *ghetto*.

Pull them out, and wire them like Vader's pic (blade connector in an acc. terminal) or go to a wrecking yard and cut the acc. connectors out of any GM vehicle and solder the connector and length of wire to your cars wiring, so they lock in place as designed.

My I also Say My Key Is stuck in the Ignition. I cant get the tumbler to turn all the way back to pull the key out so its stuck in the almost start pos. .

every great while when i am messin with the fuse box It will click and go back to the off position So I feel it may be Related... Any Ideas..

 

For the one you aren't sure of? Pull it and drive it until you notice what doesn't work anymore. Easy enough. The best thing to do though is trace it, stuff like this can be dead switches, alarms, etc. Best just to clear the whole thing out instead of leaving potential head scratchers in place for another day.

For the other wires, if you intend to keep using them, get the connectors I mentioned before (there are some on your fuse panel already I see) and then use an inline fuse or aux. fuse panel. Looks like those fuse panels are the same as the truck one I have, some, if not all of those spare terminals are run off of the two circuit breakers in the picture. Not going to hurt anything to utilize those, but that means all accessories are under the same circuit breaker (hard to track if something goes bad) and you probably won't have the same/right amp rating for each accessory.

As to how they come apart, it's been a LONG time since I looked at the back of one. I *think* there are some screws that hold the halves together, but you may need to pull the harness out (complete) to access them? I remember it was quite a mess inside there. Somebody here has probably done it as well, but if its in two pieces now, I'd suspect someone started or did get in there to mess around with things they shouldn't have.

 

Ok So if i Get a AUX Fuse Panel where am I going to Mount it Heck this this isnt even mounted...

My 82 Is one Ghetto Rigged Car I really dont know where to begin Like i said before nothing is really stock in it mechanically... the speedo never has worked...EBrake not working... Passanger Firewall has been replaced with some sort of sheet alum. Ive got Cloth Door Panels on the drivers side and vinal on the passanger....its Anywahy and a whole bunch of other crap that needs to be done...

The "fuse panel" (maybe fuse block?) I used was only like $6 online, and it has two mounting holes. I just found an underdash bolt that was in the area where I wanted to mount it, and just used that bolt to secure it.

Mine is between the pedals and the cigarette lighter area, but down close to the floor. Can't see it when sitting, but once you stick your head down, easy access to the fuses.

That's pretty much it for my suggestions. I learned/did all of this while accomplishing my TPI swap. There are a lot of ways to cut corners, but for me to feel good, I do it the way I consider "correct". Just saves hassle later on, as you are finding out from the previous owners "love" for their vehicle.

Radioshack offers a fuse tap that allows you to take power out of existing fuses. There's a hook on one end that the fuse goes into, while on the other end there's a blade to hook up a quick disconnect plug. They work nice when you need power but don't have any extra fuse slots. Here's radioshacks page for it, but you can get em in the story since there normal stock items.

That is exactly what i needed

Now in the very lower left of the box there is no fuse in that port...

The wires are just jammed directly into the connecter.

If Vaders fuse panel is identical to yours, and it appears it is, then the lower left corner is not supposed to have a fuse. In your pictures, I see a pnk/blk wire that has a clear white connector on it plugged into one of those terminals, which is what GM designed those ports for.

You can either get those connectors from a wrecked car, or use a blade connector as in Vaders picture. In any case, you are at the mercy of whatever amp circuit breaker those are on (guessing a 30A) unless you use an inline fuse or aux. fuse panel. (you can also buy different amp breakers, but rarely do all accessories need the same rating)

It doesn't get much better than Vaders picture...the three ports on the lower left are all going to be 12V with ignition on, the three on the lower right are going to be 12V constant, and the one below the two circuit breakers is a toss up, could be anything, but in Vaders picture it *appears* there may not even be a terminal installed.
