Hou. area 3rd gen--What part of town do U live in?

Since we are trying to get the monthly meets organized, and in trying to be fair to all as far as location, What part of town do U live in? We will probably rotate the monthlys around town as discussed, so it would help if U would post this info.

So far we have:

Barry85IROC--West--Katy
Larry Dunlap--West--Katy
extremirocZ--West--Katy
Red92RS--West--Katy
84ZMIKE--West--Katy
IROCaholic--West--Katy ?

20N!N--N/W--Cypress
GODSpeedGTA--N/W--Cypress
1bad91Z--N/W--Tomball
StephanGTA--N/W--Tomball

dopplereffect--North--45N+610
F-Bod--North--45N+8
Sonar--North--45N+8

rudyt5000--S/E--near Kemah
MMroc86--S/E--near gulfgate
RS Chris--S/E--Pasadena
ZAP89--S/E--LaPorte

ESC--S/W--Sharpstown
Zap + Mrs. ZAP--S/W--/8+59

It looks like the May monthly will be May 14th/4PM.

While we are at it, what do U want to do, and where do U want to do it?

I say:
I agree that the one on 59@Kirby would be my LAST choice for a couple of reasone (parking and staff).

On the other Hand...59 in Sugar Land is pretty cool. But it may be a long drivce for some, like 1960 is for me. So I would have to vote for Westheimer for the next meeting.

I wasn't trying to pick a location. Those are the only Hooter's locations that I know of. (the only ones that came thru the fog, anyway) I'm open to Sugarland. For those in Katy, it's a short cruise down Hwy 6 or the Grand Parkway.

I could have sworn there was one on I-10W close to Beltway 8--guess not! Maybe that was "Cooter's" I was thinking of!

I vote for Lonestar Raceway in Sealy for the next gathering. Its a good track with tons of parking. Only thing is it is a bit out of the way for some, like HMP for me. On their website it is listed as open for that day and "ET BRACKET RACE & TORA $4,000 TO WIN". Its not a big special event so there will be plenty of cars there but not so many that you cant make a lot or runs if you want.

Hooters would be good for the next one. Any one is fine with me.

A set time and date is good, makes it easier to schedule. I live in La Porte..Underwood and Fairmont Parkway. Freebirds is good plenty of parking, BW3 in the village there is parking for what ? half a dozen cars..man that is a small parking lot. Galveston run sounds good. What about up north of town any thing good ? I don't mind driving ( I always bring my old lady so she can push) Plus I have now have a working transmission and a set of injectors coming

Lone Star is OK with me every now and then, but it is a 55 mile drive from here,a lot farther for some. I think that someplace more central will get a LOT better turn out.

I sympathize with the 55 miles drive you mentione. From my house to HMP is 40 miles, and to HRP is 61 miles. Not fun with 3.73 gears and a TH350 tranny. I think rotating the meet is the only fair way. I don't mind driving to HMP or HRP once in a while, as long as I can got to Sealy once in a while too.

Its not fun because at 65 mph you are running about 3000 to 3200 rpm. Hondas are zooming by you. Also you can just watch the gas gauge go down as you are driving. I used 1/2 tank of gas to drive from my house to Sealy racetrack. Thats about 5 miles per gallon. With gas at $2.50/gal you can see why it wouldnt be fun stopping every 50 or 60 miles to get $30 worth of gas.

I would not recommend that setup for a daily driver! The gears wouldn't be too bad if you had an overdrive with a 700 R4. It cost more for a built 700r4 than a built TH350, but I think it would be worth if for a daily driver. I don't even drive my car every weekend now.

Build your car to race with the 383 and Th350 and buy an old Chevy Cavalier 4 cylinder to drive to work.

I think I am around 20-25rpm at 70mph with my stock 700r4 I don't even know what gears I have. But whats better the smaller or the bigger ones?

As fort the meeting I don't mind traveling either every once and a while, as long we have it on my side of town every now and then.

I get my license next week!!!!!

now I'll just have to resist the temptations of acting a damn fool in the car!

cruise

Oh, as for what to do it seems to me like it has already been decided to take place at hooters. Now just pick a good one and let us all know.

I really don't care where it is, as long as we can go for a big cruise afterwards. By the way, I heard some guys talking about a "scavenger hunt" and a "poker run" what in the hell is that?

Look, guys.................WE ARE GOING TO ROTATE THE LOCATIONS. Unless you think we should have a standard location as well as a standard time and day. That should make it a REAL no-brainer. If you want to attend, and make these monthly meeting a success, everyone is going to have to compromise. Bottom line. What we are after is your opinions and ideas about where to have the meetings. We could really do without the whining. We all know how far it is from point A to point B. Since my car is not TPI (thank ***), I get the worst gas mileage on the board, save for ESC (maybe). I feel your pain. This group is not about the pain. We all have it at one time or another. SO GET OVER IT. For me, it's worth it. Whatever the reason is that you want to be part of this group, whatever your driving force is, should make almost everything else secondary.( not really. Everyone's got stuff that comes up from time to time.) But you have to ask yourself, How much time and effort am I willing to put in? That's what this thing is all about. Look at Dallas. WAY SMALLER city than Houston, and how many turned out at their last event? In the neighborhood of 300? We've never had 30 at an event!!!!!!!!!!!! They want to get involved,, and I'm sure that those who don't go feel like they're missing out. And they are. You can learn sooooooo much from other's experiences. What did you do and why? But to do that you gotta be there to find out. And can someone please help me down from this soapbox?

(in best tele-avangelist voice) Can I get an amen? Okay, so anyway. I agree, 2nd weekend of the month, we rotate areas so that it's fair for all. At the location, we can figure out what some (or all) of us want to do afterwards. That seems pretty simple enough.

My vote for the next meet is definately for hooters. I think since it's the first organized meet maybe we could meet centrally (westheimer/gessner area), then figure it out from there. I know that place and the parking is good. Doesn't really matter to me, I'll drive to kansas if I gotta, but let's get this all hammered out. Seems like 4, maybe 5 people are really trying to get things done and the others either don't care, or rarely have anything to add. Might just be my opinion tho!

M

P.S. Barry's right, I'm off 290 between 1960 and Barker-Cypress if that helps ya' with location.

Yes, you can get an amen. It's my opinion, too.
So, someone has come forth with a definite suggestion which makes sense. Hooters @Westheimer and Gessner. Not that far from Katy, not that far for those in SW (in other words semi-centrallly located). Maybe we can also alternate tracks, just an example, but have it at a track every other month But I don't want to confuse the issue. Who has a problem with Hooters @ Westheimer and Gessner? ( Those who speak up get rewarded)

THE BIGGER THE NUMBER, THE FASTER YOUR CAR WILL ACCELERATE, BUT THE ENGINE TURNS MORE RPM AT 70 MPH. U probably have 2.73 or 3.23--there's probably a tag on the upperleft side of diff cover with a number code--get that and we can figure it out.

LORD, HELP US ALL!!!!!

Well, it sounds like it's a done deal!

Hooter's--Saturday May 14th--4PM!

link below to Location/map ETC
http://hooters.Know-Where.com/hooter...e=030&address=

The "official" monthly meet is hanging out at Hooter's for a couple hours. As we have discussed before, what U want to do, where U want to go after that, is your business.
If U want to go home--cool!
If U want to go out to one of the drag strips--cool!
If U want to stay at Hooter's and get drunk and look at Hooter's--cool!

HOWEVER, since several of U want to go for a mass cruise, about 6/6:30PM, I am planning on going to the Sam's Club show on I-10W@ Hwy. 6. (weather permitting) If anybody else wants to go , especially those U have never been and don't quite know where it is, then fall in line and follow me! I'll probably hang out there a couple hours and then head for the house.

OH Yeah--In the event of rain--THE MONTHLY MEET WILL NOT BE CALLED OFF!!! That's why we are having this at an "indoor" type location. If it does not rain, we can hang out inside and outside--pop the hoods, and tell lies about how fast your car is. If it does rain, we'll just have to tell all the lies inside! (Besides that's where all the Hooter's are!!! (OH Yeah--Barry and/or Larry--you're only allowed to drop your fork, and ask the waitress to pick it up for U, twice per monthly meeting!)

Be thinking about where we should have the June monthly meeting. In my opinion, since this one is kinda centrally located on the west side of town, and since there are a number of people in the S/E area, seems like that would be the fair thing to do.

We DO NOT have to have it at a Hooter's again, but then again there's nothing wrong with that either, except I don't want to get in a rut right off the bat! If there is any kind of special event going on, such as a special car show, swap meet, Bikini contest/WET T-shirt contest (those get special consideration!), ETC, anything that we would want to combine with our monthly meeting, especially in the S/E or East part of town (or any part of town), let us know for a possible location. It would probably best that we have the location, for the next month's meet, figured out before the end of the month, so everybody has time to plan out their day.

Comments, Suggestions, ETC?????????

If we stick to our second Saturday of every month thing, then it would be June 11thfor the June monthly.

OH Yeah--I have seen a small magazine from time to time called the "Cruzin Times", that has a list--dates/locations/times ETC, of most of the local Hou. area meets for all different types of car clubs. If naybody sees one of those, snag a couple so we can see what's going on in Hou. area!

Sounds cool. Im going to make Max come and bring his car so that doubles my contribution to the count. Sam's sounds cool too. Id like to race, but I guess we can do that on our own. The main thing im interested in at a pure show is showing max's car. Its pretty amazing.

Sounds cool. Im going to make Max come and bring his car so that doubles my contribution to the count. Sam's sounds cool too. Id like to race, but I guess we can do that on our own. The main thing im interested in at a pure show is showing max's car. Its pretty amazing.

dopplereffect--U gonna be able to attend any of the monthlys? If so let me know what part of town u live in.

84ZMIKE I know your in Katy--gonna try and make some of the meets?

I wanna keep up with who is attending and what part of town so we can try and rotate the monthlys around so it's fair for everybody as far as driving.

Thats right down the street from where I work. But I live right down the street from 84Zmike on 529 and barker and I am about 15 mins away from XtremeIrocz aswell. I havent posted in this thread b/c I am about to do a T-56 swap in my car so it will be down for a good amount of time. But I will try to make as many as I can as soon as the car is back on its feet.

would the SE guys like to meet somewhere and have a mini cruise to the meet ? i think that would be cool instead of us by ourselves. I wouldnt have no problem going a lil bit out the way if it comes down to it to meet up

Yeah.. that sounds good. Man my car is now getting to be fun to drive. First couple months, crumpled front fender, cut wires from stolen radio, leaking freeze plugs, leaking radiator, leaking heater core, no speedo, slipping trans, no brakes (carried around a brick and thats just the stuff you could see. It was a chore to drive but I did and as a daily driver too !
Now rebuilt trans, speedo works, patched in a radio, covered seats with a sheet but at least there's no stuffing flying around new heater core, new radiator, new water pump and I have injectors on the way to cure hard starting from at least one injector leaking and back firing when I let off gas on highway. My brakes work so I threw away the anchor I was tossing out the window to stop, now my old lady only has to push us half the time. In other words lets meet and run up there I am in La Porte at Underwood and Fairmont Parkway near the Pasadena Convention Center

The brick was to put under the tires after I stopped so it would not roll away, the anchor was to help me stop

great

Thats a great idea, I noticed a couple of the guys are from pasadena. That means you will pass by the HEB where I work. I say we meet there and head toward the Hooters from there. RudyT you are coming from the baybrook mall area, you don't necasary have to pass by the HEB but it will only be a small detour for you to get there.

I hope I'm not missing anyone. For better driving instructions, try this..........http://maps.yahoo.com/ Enter in your adress and ask for driving directions to

3111 Woodridge DR

I am willing to listen to other ideas tho, we don't have to go with this one.
