Nice ride, but $50,000?? How could you buy that and pass on a 92 firehawk? Unless you are one of the few that have the $$$ and a collector of f-bodies. Me no way.

Car: 85 Trans Am
I didnt read the whole description just skimmed it, but did it say anything about coming with official photos showing the signatures or something because other then tearing the car apart and taking your own photos, theres no real proof to the buyer that i can see...
Well the engine signatures but showing off all of them would be a major plus.

Wow! As much as I hate red interior, that car is awesome. L98, Zo3, Fe2, G92. I couldn't possibly convince myself to drive it, though, if I bought it

Did you guys notice the VIN? The sequential number ends in 170008. All records indicate that 70,007 Camaros were built in 1992. This implicates the last sequential number should be 170007. Interesting...

Firebird and Camaro VIN sequentual numbers are independent of each other. Please correct, but don't Firebird sequential numbers start with 2xxxxxx every year?
In fact, I have the same RPO document for 170007, a Camaro. It is a t-topped Z28 with a 305 TPI, auto and Heritage Appearance Package. It does not have G92.
Both 170007 and 170008 have RPO 1AZ which means both were customer ordered.

i e-mailed the guy and he said theres hundreds of pictures that i guess he took of the car as its going through the plant. i wish he would scan some of the pictures so that we could have them on here. maby some one else should try? this get me thinking it would be really cool to have the first thirdgen ever made parked next to the last thirdgen ever made and take some pictures. does any one know who has the first thirdgen ever made?

"The car is not on any websites that I am aware of. It was in most of the large newspapers, many California TV news broadcasts and the Tonight Show. The program "Steals and Deals" also did a segment on the car. Do you know if the UAW645(United Auto Workers) office is still open? It was located near the old plant. They would have info on the car and plant closing."

Car: 91 GTA, 91 Formula, 89 TTA
Engine: all 225+ RWHP
Transmission: all OD
Axle/Gears: Always the good ones
Could also be possible tis not the "last" car built :-)
Same kind of deal went on with the last Grand National after production was set for 6 more mths.
Dealer owner got the "2nd to last car" for public and the actual last "car" was kept by Buick itself...........
Dunno, just throwing out ideas here.
And if I had the cash I would buy that car.
Than in honor of all the plant workers who lost jobs after long careers there, I would do one damned big doughnut followed by a block long tire roaster :-)
Its what they were made for

If "said" car proves to be legit, someone here should get pictures and all available info now while we have the chance to save it at thirdgen.org. Rather than risk it being lost

I will do what ever I can to get some documentation from the owner. Maybe he'd be willing to set us up if he knew we were trying to preserve the history of this car longer. I'll contact him tonight.

I was conversing via email with him. I guess those are the only pics he has, as he doesn't have any larger ones on his PC.

Leonard was willing to talk to me about the car and his documentation. I informed him of TGO and he might even register. We need to work out some details regarding getting the documentation from him. He is willing to get us whatever he has, however, he doesn't really want the documentation to leave his possession. I guess I would be the same since it is very rare and irreplaceable.
Give us some time to work it all out and we'll see what I can get documented. I asked him to register and discuss the car and his stories with us on here. He informed me that there are a few Firebirds out there with Camaro headrests because they ran out at the end. He was there when they opted to use them.
I have other calls to make regading this, so it might take a few days before I even can updat on our progress.

From what I understand, he has copies of most of that. He said that people from all over were sending him copies of articles they found in newspapers and such. I will do what I can do and what my wife will allow me afford.

BTW, to answer the question, yes I would pay $50,000. If I had that kinda money to throw around! I would then donate it to a climate controlled museum so that it would last forever.

Leonard, probably my mistake. You know the details of what happened, so you probably said it correctly and I screwed it up. Ask the people here, I do that from time to time!
