I told you everyone would create dissention. Just pick a date, pick a location(I like LFN AAT U house because he has lot's of room and you can by parts at the same time) and pick a track. People can't have too many choice because then no one can decide on one location. You pick it we'll be there.

Ok, so we know that we are going to be meeting this spring / summer. Personally that's a little to broad of a spectrum for me. How about we get a month, at least, so that everyone can prepare - ie. work, school, stuff like that.

Ok so we're shooting for March. The only issue that I may have with that is school. It all depends on that, due to the fact that I don't think IUPUI is going to stop classes for 4 days just so I can cruise with all of my Third Gen buddies...hehe I'm sure that things can be worked out, just give me time. Thanks man

Well I finals aren't til April, which means that I'll still be going full bore...hehe Again though, I don't think it will be a problem, just so long as we get all the little details worked out. I only go to school Mon through Thurs. so I can travel on Friday. and be there for the weekend. I guess that I'll have to make sure I get all of my work done, so I don't have to worry about it. I can just relax and look at all the hott cars...hehe

Ok dawg I've got some great news. My spring break is the week of the 11th through the 17th of March. Which means that school wouldn't get in the way of the meeting. Talk about good planning, I guess maybe IUPUI didn't mind me taking off for a third gen meeting after all. Get back to me with those reports. If you wanna chat I'm online in the evenings on AOL instant messenger. ThridGen91RS is my Screen name. If not I'll just talk to you on here. Later

No kidding mean...
perfect weather for driving today. At lunch I hit it and I even had some traction. I guess the salt is getting worn off the roads by now (and onto my car ) Too bad about naperville...we should go cruise there anyway...right by the "no cruising" signs. Maybe we'll find some nice 16 year old girls too . But seriously, I have picked up a race there before. You just have to park on the street and stand by your car. The punks will come to you. I can see you making some money this summer Mean!

Wow, Bawls does exist. I thought maybe you died or something. It's good to know that you are still going. I don't know if I could handle driving the length of the way by myself.

Count me in if my motors in. Should be by Feb. I also need to go up there for a Glassteck hood. Anyways, what about Cordova dragstrip by Quad Cities? Or there are like 7-8 or so people on this board from the Peoria area. Let me know the details and I'll start saving up for gas! lol

Hell, if you guys just come to my house you don't have to worry about anybody bitchin'. A lot of people already know where I live anyway. I've got ten cars here right now so what's a few more? I've got over 6 1/2 acres so I think I've got enough room.

Potluck, parts, hanging out with fellow Thirdgener's. LFN AT U's place sounds good to me. I know its not a track, but if people brought parts and tools, everyone could help each other modifying their rides. It also would be nice just to meet you guys and gals face to face. You all have helped me out quit a bit.

That would be cool, since I wanna get a cam, headers, and pulleys for my car. It'll probably be done by then though, but watching you guys do stuff could always help me learn.

Hi,

I'm new to this site. I have a '91 RS and have had it for a couple of years. I'm way west of Chicago but work in Aurora. I'm a novice when it come to restoring and upgrading cars but I sure enjoy the ride. I am interested in hearing about meetings etc. in the western suburbs of Chicago to meet other 3rd gen. owners.

Please let me know if any are planned!

Thanks

how many days if people drive from a ways away is there anywhere they can stay
sounds like a great place to have fun and meet people and make cars faster

Date

I was wonderin' of we might be able to shoot for teh 10th instead of the 17th. I know that this isn't revolving around me, but I was lookin' at my schedule, and it seems as thought that would work out a lot better. I'm just shootin' out ideas. Get back to me.

HOLD UP....

Lemme get this straight... We have somebody who's got a bunch of scrap cars lined up for the picking, 6 and a half acres of land in the country, no cops, willing to host us, AND A FRICKING G-TECH?!?!?!?

Call me cheap, but this sounds way better then paying out for a track.

Between the G-tech for ghetto-dynoing, tools and people to help swing wrenches for modding, and if someone brings a scanner to listen for cops, we can just drag on local backroads against eachother, this is sounding great. Top the night off with a cruise to the nearest big town, and depending on how "generous" our host is, a little kegger action and sleeping space, all for the cost of gas and parts?

Sign me up.

Just have caravans meet on the road, start at a decent hour in the morning, and this could be a thirdgenner dream come true!

Most of us are college students, so it seems to me the cheaper this can be done, the better.

I really like having this a LFN's place. Just gimme directions. After this time I'll probably tow down my poor '87 for another parts car, plus a ton of leftover parts, on the house. Maybe the summer would be better than spring, it would definately be OK for college dudes since getting time off of work is a bitch no matter when you do it. I should have my bird painted by then so I won't be so embarassed of her.

Hey I'm down...
All of us guys in the naperville/aurora area should meet up somewhere and caravan down. How many of us are there? Anyway let us know where we are going, and someone from the area figure out a place for us to meet up.

This is sounding great, but we still have no date. I was planning on spending the weekend there, ya know, leaving Friday so I could spend most of the weekend with everyone. And then leavin' Sun. I know we were talkin' about March, but what does everyone's schedule look like? I'm good for the weekend of the 10th. Hopefully I can get the RS fixed by then. I side swpied a guy this morning tryin' to merge into a turn lane and I guess that he had other plans for me. I have to get the nose repainted. Which really sucks. But anyways, lets start planning a date now that we have all desided it's gonna be held at his place.

MAybe we should leave it up to the potential host as to when we crash his place.

For my own part, I think we're all jumping the gun. I'm tired of winter myself, and the idea of a March gathering seems great, but come on, it's usually still snowing about then around here. As much as I'd like to have one soon, I think for the weather alone we'll need to push it back to late March at earliest, maybe early April. ESPECIALLY if we plan on wrenching outside much.

I'll be there whenever, though.

Okay, here's what I'm thinking. I know everybody wants to get together ASAP but I think we should wait until the middle of May. By then you know that weather should be good and it gives people more time to get their cars ready. By then I should have picked up even more parts cars so hopefully I can help most people out with their parts requests. I'll spring for a keg and maybe some food too. (We'll see!!!) The roads around me are great but I really don't want anybody racing right around my house. (My neighbors have been really cool about having all the cars around but a bunch of people racing around could change that really quick!!!) Don't worry, there's plenty of good roads by me!!! My house is extremely easy to find and I think I within a 45 minute drive for most people who are posting here. We can work out more details as time goes by but for not that's the best plan for me. Who knows...I may even have the beast ready to come out and play!!! (I doubt it!!!)

The problem I see with mid-May is that that is prime finals time for all us college students.

I personally will be travelling a lot that month too, so I've got my own reasons.
