Great experience with Moates software

I just had to share this....

I got a Mattei cable kit and assembled it myself. I have an 88 GTA with the '165 computer (originally an L98, auto, 3.27 car) that now has a 406 TPI and a Fastchips custom prom.

Last night I plugged the cable into the car, and booted my laptop. It is a Dell Latitude 233 mhz, with 64 mb ram and running Win 95. The IR port is off and Com 1 is it. I did not plug the power cable connection into the 12v cigarette lighter and I have the 10k ohm resistor soldered onto the board between the A & B pins. I turned the key to the "on" position, without starting the car. I was able to make contact instantly after hitting "1" and see the vital info. Not only that but I successfully dumped my custom Fastchips Bin onto my hard drive (3 seperate files) and they all appear to be the same (did the compare through Tunercat). I also found immediately that my TPS signal is off (.63-4.20) so that is a problem to resolve in Spring.

I use a computer every day in the business world and experience the "Microsoft" deal with wierd program glitches and Windows crashing for no real reason. It is nice to use a program that just works, with no need for massive troubleshooting, just plug in and go. Especially since it is free. This appears to be a quality piece of software and so I contributed a small amount ($15) to Craig (Sorry I can't do more) because it is worth every penny.

Thanks Craig!
