MRP Plastic Plenum

Someone on e-bay was selling a plastic TPI plenum made by a company called MRP. Does anyone know where these are available? Supposedly the top is removable. Does anyone have any information on these?

I saw that. Pretty cool. Flowed 1000cfm I think and last time I checked it was going for $142. Looks like a custom job to me.

Yeah, it did flow 1000cfm but i don't think it was custom. It was supposedly made by MRP (i've never heard of them before) which some people were saying is a more mustang related company. I'm just considering that the unit would cost less than porting the stock plenum, be lighter, and you could always switch back to your stock plenum should you want to sell the car or pass smog.

I remember a comparison between differant products to boost TPI performance back in I think 1988 when I bought my first GTA.
MRP was one of the companys and it seems like they had the plastic plenum along with plastic high flow runners and from what I remember they did very well in the comparison. Have not heard of them since then until now.

Just e-mailed PR and this was the response I got on asking about the intake:

"No information available on intake"

Think they could go into more detail?

I've often thought about having the top of the plenum cut off and welding on a "high hat" to increase the volume of air available in the plenum at any given time. Any thoughts?

MRP is looooong gone. They disappeared around 92-93. Their products were also junk. A friend of mine had the MRP plenum, runners and chip and the car ran slower!

Straight Line Racing of Toronto, Ontario returned all their products and refused to carry them anymore due to the number of customer complaints he was receiving about it.

what? that thing is long gone. motor ran fine after we replaced the TB with another one just like it. that the owner brought in.

he must have liked it cause he had 2 of them.

oh yeah a little back ground on this vette. its a top end car he used to race back in the late 80s early 90s. its a aftermarket tall deck block around 400 ci and a procharger with a cog setup. high CR race gas motor and a f.a.s.t. system we put on not to long ago. not sure what he does with these day but drive it to work once in awhile. the guy says its been clocked at over 220mph.(what he says)

Is it just me, or did the idea of running a blown V8 with a plastic plenum and runners come into anyone elses mind and seem funny.

alot of cars these days have plastic or what ever it is intakes , 4.6's ,LS-1's, and older vortec motors just about every import i've seen at work utilizes this material weight ? heat dissapation? flexibility in runneer designs?
we had a newbody style celica in for a front end collision and the intake runners shatterd upon impact, they went underneath a taller vehicle.
i'm not sure if it ate any of it or not
