Hey,
I'll be able to answer your questions by Monday.
I've got the Basslink and I'm installing it sometime this weekend. I'll pull the spare out and see if it fits in that area. I actually thought about putting it on the drivers side cargo hold area. I've got a convertible so your set-up may differ from mine.
I'll post a pic of what it looks like in the spare tire area for you so you can get a idea of what it would look like.
I've thought about hiding the basslink behind the panel in the spare tire or cargo area, but don't know yet if that is possible. The Basslink may be a bit too fat for it to fit behind the plastic molding. Also I think it will rattle too much since that area is not screwed down very well and in some areas not at all.
Anyway, I'll post a report for you after I get it in the car.

Exellent!! Thanx for Replying!
I thought of the drivers side too, but Im sure that it would rattle more than the pass side. But on the other hand I would hate to remove my spare jus in case somethin happens. Sux to be stranded. Anyways, thanx for the Reply...and Ill look forward to seeing the results

BTW, how did you kill the rattle from the 5.25" speakers. Mine rattles like crazy, maybe my setup is a little different than the 91??

Hey,
Got some answers for ya and I'll post some pics hopefully Tuesday eve.
First off will it fit in the spare tire compartment?? The answer is a definate YES!
I took out the spare tire and the jack and the other things in there and the basslink fit right in the area where the tire sits. The only problem is that the feet to mount the basslink will not fit, but you will still be able to mount the basslink with minor fabrications so it won't fly around back there. If you got a small piece of metal and drilled a few holes where the spare tire mounts added some srews you should have no problems. I looked at how I could possibly install it there and it looked like it would be pretty simple. I would just get some pieces of 1/4" rubber tubing to place between the basslink and the body of the car to reduce vibration noises.
You could also completely conceal the basslink with the cover/molding that goes back there. It will work perfectly!
I then tried the drivers side and it will NOT fit!
The basslink is too wide and there is some metal on the drivers side to accomodate for the gas tank fill tube.
Frankly I'm thinking of getting rid of the spare tire and putting the basslink in there. Right now I just have it sitting in the bottom well of the trunk. As I was removing the spare tire I began to think about it how useful this spare would really be to begin with. The spare comes flat from the factory and you are relying on a 11 year old can of air to fill this thing up. Frankly I'm glad we have triple A. So I'm leaning strongly towards that approach.
Hooking the basslink up is pretty straight foward and took me all of about ten minutes to do. I already had my power wire and remote wire back there from my previous sub so it was just a matter of hooking up the wires and turning it on.
Infinity suggests that you set all the settings half way and tweeking it from there. There is a little "servo light" that comes on when the amp/sub hits it peek power. Infinity suggest that this light beat with the music but not stay on continuously. I did that and I gotta tell ya this thing gave me a headache from the sound pressure it put out. I did notice while you are adjusting the basslink it appears to sound muddy, but that only holds true while you have your face in front of it. Once you sit in the car it's a different world!
All in all I'm very impressed with the basslink.
The 12" sub I had in there before definately vibrated the entire car more but the basslinki sounds much better IMO. And the prior sub I had in there had the box built to the proper specs for it.
If you're looking for a hard hitting sub that won't take up your entire trunk/hatch area then I'd suggest giving the basslink a try. If you get one off of ebay for around $200 and wind up not liking it, then you can always sell it on ebay again. I've seen 6 month old used basslinks easily selling for $180 plus depending on how good they described in the auction.
I've seen posts in here from people saying it's not very impressive and does not offer alot of boom. Frankly I think they had it hooked up wrong and maybe out of phase. This thing virbates the car and you can definately feel the bass while going down the road.
The only bad thing I can say about the basslink is that the hookup terminals are located in a bad place and should be somewhere else and not so close together. They used a small terminal strip bus that only allows you to hook up the wires in one direction.
Also keep in mind this is a 10" sub, it's not going to give you major boom like those camaro's out there with 2 12" subs powered by 2 500 watt amps. Bottom line, I think it's good bang for the buck!
To Bigt.....
My 5.25" speakers don't rattle at all. Maybe the setup is different. I just used the same mounts from the factory speakers and the factory grills.
I'd suggest removing the panel but not the speaker and play it loud to see where the rattle is coming from. If it's coming from the front ring of the speaker where it mounts to the panel then try using some sticky foam tape. If it's rattling the metal then try the same thing back by the magnet.
That's the only thoughts I can think of.
I'll be back later to show you some pics of the basslink. I've already taken them, I just have to download them into the computer and shave some of the file size so they don't take too much time to load in this post.
Until then.....

Hey,
Got some pics fer ya.
1st there is the old setup which you can see took up a lot of space.
Here is a couple shots of the Basslink "on it's side" in the spare tire compartment.

And the final shot of it sitting upright exposing the amp and controls. This may be the best way to mount it in the car. It would allow you to make changes as needed to the settings on the unit.

I think I may mount it in there in the next few weekends and then cover it up with the plastic cover. The unit has been working great and I'm still pleased with the switch.
Again, it's no boom the car next to you type of sub, but if you want to be able to feel the bass while driving down the road and you want minimal install hassles then I'd suggest giving the basslink a try. I think it more geared to those who are looking for sound quality rather than sound pressure.
Just my 2 cents.

Took a while to get the Basslink installed. The trunk latch went out on me and I had to replace that (to keep the trunk closed) before installing the sub.
I put it in tonight and was very impressed. I am not going to win any competitions, but that wasn't my goal.
Now, I just need some dynamat to stop the trunk from rattling.

Just to add an additional opinion:
I also have a basslink in my car. I consider it a 'temporary' until I decide to spend the money / go to the effort to build a box for two 10 or 12" infinity perfect subs that will be driven by a jbl 600.1. Anyway, here's the skinny: the basslink is well worth the money (I paid 250 shipped to me, shop around!) and sounds GREAT in the car. Driving past, people know you have some 'bottom', but you aren't gonna rattle the rear view mirror off the windshield of the car beside you. It will hold me over for a while and sounds great! if you want to hide it, as we've seen, it will fit in the spare tire well if ya wanna dump the spare ..
