The ZZ4 is a nice engine, and it'll get you into the 13's if done properly, but it won't be cheap with TPI.

You'll need a better base, like Bigmouth, that's a Vette-style so you can get your EGR to work (the aluminum heads don't have the exhaust cross over passage that currently feeds your EGR valve). And, you'll need shorter fatter runners, a ported plenum, larger TB and injectors, and AFPR. Custom or DIY burned PROM, you'll have the power for the 13's. Low 13's, probably need ZZ9 or LT4 Hot Cam and 1.6:1 rockers.

Add headers (go SLP 1-3/4", as you've obviously got the bucks to get the best), high-flow dual cats, and cat back. To handle this power and get it to launch, sub-frame connectors, boxed or tubular lower control arms & LCA relocation kit, and poly bushings. 4.10 gears, posi if not already, sticky drag radials. For all the tranny questions, just talk to Dana at Pro Built.

A buddy here did all those things except headers, and stall is only 2000. In addition, he did extrude hone on the intake track, CNC head porting, zero-decking. As is, he runs 14.4's here (mid-13's corrected). Some day he'll get the headers on. Oh, he passes emissions easily.

Happy hunting!

hey man.... i am looking into the same swap. i have talked to some people and this is what they have told me with get me to the low 13/ high 12 range...

1. zz4 engine + i am adding the LT4 hotcam for added performance
2. get rid of the stock tpi intake... changing the runners and all will help but the best bet is to get something like the TPiS miniram, the holley stealth ram, or the LT1 intake that John Millican prepares.
3. 1 3/4'' headers w/ a catback exhaust.... im gonna do the exhaust but also add a cutout for added flow... and with the cutout you can uncap it when u want...
4. you will have to rebuilt the tranny... if not you will rip it to shreds... you should also put a torque converter in at the same time...
5. a 3.42 gear should suffice... you can go with a 3.73 if you want
6. 24# injectors

that is what the people told me for low 12's... and what my plans are for now..... suspension stuff to come later i hope
