door lock black cover/coating-85 camaro

Hi all,
This may be a dumb ques, but I'll try anyway. One of my door locks has a big chip on what looks to be a rubber/plastic cover on it. Can you buy these "covers" anywhere? or do you need to replace the lockset which would be a waste of money I don't have
thank you
tom

You can buy replacement lock parts . . I've found them on eBay . . . a bit tricky to install.

You have to remove the lock cylinder from the door, then carefully pry the 4 prongs that are pressed to the lock body, remove the "ring" BUT don't let the spring loaded inside parts pop out! . . . then put ring on and press the 4 tabs back down . .

Re: door lock black cover/coating-85 camaro

Thanks for the info and picture Polo z03,
I was just asking about the black plastic coating (round with a hole in the center - bottom center of your picture ) where a piece of mine is broke off. For now I just painted the area black as I don't think I could by just that piece which is likely glued on. A better fix would be to apply and sand some epoxy putty to the missing area and then paint it black.

Have a great day and thanks for helping.
