Re: Whos got the best vert.
There are definately a lot of pretty cars here... What would you consider the "Perfect" 3rd gen vert...
Engine, Trans, model...
IE I think the car that would probably be worth the most would be the sole 1992 Firehawk convertible... beyond that, the 2 TTA convertibles in 1989, Then I think it would be a tough call between 3, 4 & 5. I believe that any of the 350 powered verts would be up there...
therefore My thoughts are:
1) the sole 1992 Firehawk Vert
2) the 2 TTA Verts
3, 4, 5) 350 powered IROC, Trans Am/GTA & Formula ASC convertible (non factory of course...)

I think the PERFECT convertible, to me, is one of the following:
1) TTA convertible *didn't know they had those until you said something! *
2) Ultra Metallic Blue '90 IROC-Z convertible, G92, 5spd
3) Purple Haze '92 Z28 convertible with tan leather and tan top
4) Any '91/'92 Z28 converitble with LSx drivetrain *mine will be LSx powered hopefully by 2009*

Zimm, Don't listen to these sick bastards telling you to put a tan top on that car. Try this instead......... Black crosslace pontiac rims, if you knew someone that had em', it'd be worth throwing them on to see.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
Do you call it a 1990.5 because it has the '90 front bumper/gfx, and the '91 side skirt and rear bumper gfx? Either way, it's still a really good looking car. I'd run the VIN and see if it's a '90 or a '91, and change the ground effects to match throughout so it looks factory. I really do like the car though.
----------
That's sick! That's the first grey/silver convertible IROC I've ever seen. I like that! That color is one of my favorites...

It's actually a 91 firebird. i converted the front end cause i don't like the 91 front ends. I took the wheels off of my totalled 88 GTA and i'm going to do a full intereor swap w/ digital dash along with my drivetrain and suspension. mods in sig

Thing is, I didnt buy the car to keep the top up
If I am driving it, the top is down 99% of the time. The only time I really get to see the top is while I am washing it and black is way easier to keep clean than tan.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
I like that...ALMOST!
I would have swapped the side FX & the rear bumper too, making it a 87-90 'vert.
The 91/92 FX have always just looked tacked on as an after thought to me. Especially the rear piece. The front sides, have always looked unfished.
OH! We forgot FX!"

Personally I love the 91/92 style. And I've owned almost every year of the 3rd gens. I currently have my '86 Autoform Vert for sale. It's too bad I'm selling it to start a business....I think it's one of the best looking verts!

Re: Whos got the best vert.
The perfect vert for me would be a black '87 loaded with a 5-speed and gray leather interior. This is what I originally wanted because it was rare. I couldn't find one anywhere at the time. I settled for a black '88 loaded, gray cloth, automatic. However now I like the '88 wheels better than the '87 wheels and I like the blue stripe instead of the silver on the '87's.

I've never seen a 90.5 Vert. Is that real or did someone put the 91/92 GFX on a 90 style car?

The 90.5 cars couild be considered the early 1991 model year. Since production stopped on Dec 31 1989 for the 1990 model year. Technically there are no 90.5 cars, they are all considered 1991 models.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
I vote for BluZ's vert. Especially with a 6.0/t56.
I'd really love to see a Jamacian Yellow bird dropped on some charcoal/gunmetal wheels and of course a turbo LSx/t56 under it. Maybe a c5/c6 transaxle/IRS setup too? Ooohh to dream...

Thanks man!! You know my post that is further up this page, I posted it in 2007 and said I hoped to have my car LSX powered by 2009? I totally forgot I posted that back then, and look, it is the end of 2009 and I finally got it LSX powered!!

Re: Whos got the best vert.
I do..
Last outing at the dyno it only put 385hp/335tq to the wheels. The injectors are to small cause the VE tables were just about maxed out, the commanded afr was 10:1 but the WB was reading 13.5-13.8:1... Bit more fuel will push that well north of 400. Not bad for a small block, on 93 octane and a stalled 700r4.

Hey Cam..
3450lbs, Spohn Suspension. 396 SBC, Eagle/Diamond parts, XR292 Cam, Super Vic, Pro System 780cfm carb, Dart Pro1 230's, Hooker Super Comps, 4" Single Exhaust, 11.5:1 comp, 1.76 Powerglide trans, 4500rpm Vigilante converter. 200 shot Zex plate. 11.0's @ 127 on motor back then. Runs/Drives on pump gas but I use VP113 at the track on nitrous. 3.73 gear, 12 Bolt Eaton HD, 26" tire. Shift at 7000. traps at 7100.(hose)
Now we ported the heads, more camshaft(still driveable), 100hp more nitrous. I want 8's but it's not easy... This year was spent chasing a bunch of problems..

Umm... I would have to go with the Yellow Buick on this one... Both are fine cars mind you... But Living in Flint, MI, and partial to Yellow, I would have to go with the GSX.
If I lived in Lansing, then I might feel differently.
