1987 IROC-Z Convertible Black/Saddle
I have a 1987 IROC-Z fully-restored 87...its a 20th Anniversary car...updated to 87 305 TPI rebuilt at 0.20, auto...frame ties, limited slip & rear disc added....I was told it was built in the plant, but have been unable to verify. My painter told me it had the original rivots for the front fender extensions (which were used early)

Re: 1987 IROC-Z Convertible Black/Saddle
Thank you. I had the car taken down almost to the point there wasn't a single screw in place. It also had the underside touched up. It has no rust on the floorboards. I have contemplated selling it but can't seem to get solid data on it.

The best convertible(s) in my opinion will forever be Fatal88's and ******. Though I dont think either have been active on this board in a VERY long time. Those two, along with Steve Vidal, have always been the inspiration for my Camaro.

You all have some beautiful cars. Just got mine back on the road after a six year slumber. Still needs to be finished. But this is it for now.

Bump.. anybody have new pic's. I might soon. Looking to pick up these rims in a few days.
fronts are 19x8.5 and rears are 19x9.5
Plan is to refinish them in black with leaving a polished lip.

There are no vert specific ones. Your gonna either have to do it yourself if you can measure cut and weld. Or find a local fab shop and have them do it.

that is cool. I am a metal bending fool hence the user name TIN BENDER. look at this creation of mine http://www.flickr.com/photos/tinbender59/3133142759 see if you can find what is different than stock. I am working out the details of using a t-top roof and sail panels to make a sport bar, like the mid 90's Cutlas convertibles had. I will do a conception photo chop of it, see what y'all think. here is the cutlas

Hawks use to have that style bar.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/conv...light-bar.html
Ive considered a way to do it with 2 main hoops. Then sheetmetal rolled for top and under it. tig it all. smooth it all up. Then cover with either alcanta for a nice look or paint it.
I love sheetmetal work. did alot of airframe stuff for cessna. almost went to work in the nascar body world but got better offers in the aviation field.
Check these out. http://www.cecoatings.com/images/CarStuff/92Z/Targatop/
I was gonna keep it targe top but picked up a totalled vert for parts.
That vert you looked at 1st was originally a T-Top car. Then Targa , Then vert.

the targa looked pretty good. wouldn't mind doing that to my IROC, but i think i've been convinced to put it back to stock-ish and restore it.

I'd still say Ed Hamburger of SLP, Street Legal Performance, IIRC, a killer article on his earliest 3rd gen Firehawk....convertible!??! Sorry if my memory has gotten a bit more muddy on details

I've met up with a few guys from Pensacola on our way out to Mobil for a meet, but never been to any of the Pensacola meets. Never really know when there going on... or they don't happen often enough I notice.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
Okay, I am just starting out......I am looking for the bracket for the convertible top to lock into when it is up. Mine needs to be replaced. When I got the car the person I purchased it from has it rigged up and I am trying to put the car back to rights. I have a good base to start from but I am just starting out and need some good ideas of where to begin for parts please.

I'll see your bet on the 442 convertible and the 1 of none GSX convertible and raise you a 1 of 4 surviving, 72 455HO 4spd convertible that happens to be the only one in driving condition and the one built with the highest number of options - 35 total!
