Racing inov headers + Hawks y pipe 3in out
Hey guys I have purchased the racing innovation headers and hawks off-road y pipe with 3 in out. Doing an ls engine swap in my car now and getting ready for exhaust.
Need rest of exhaust system and was looking at the Magnaflow 16829 system. I'd like to be able to bolt it together under a lift and not have to fabricate anything. Wanted to get your opinion and see if I was on the right track. Any suggestions would be helpful if I am going in the wrong direction.
Thanks,
Bryan

I know this is an old thread, but how did it go together with the RI long tubes and Hawks Y-pipe?

Re: Racing inov headers + Hawks y pipe 3in out
Not worth a crap honestly, but I think partly because I am using a 4L60E and on the passenger side it is really tight. I also am almost 100% sure that I got the old version of the y-pipe that was not mandrel bent and the new ones are. I think the bends are more accurate on the new version - I spoke to Hawks and they did offer to swap them out if I shipped them back, but I was impatient and just took the car to an exhaust shop. The Y itself is nothing special, I almost 100% sure its a flowmaster part, but since I used a magnaflow kit, I wished I had used a magnaflow y collector that's stainless. Of course you pay a premium for all of this put together as a "kit" form.
So I would recommend personally to buy your slip joints, magnaflow collector, and have a shop fab them, unless you are going with a T56, then the kit would probably work perfectly. I wished Hawks would specify its really more for a T56 install...

Thanks for the info! I am running a T56, so I think I will try them out. When I ordered everything I was hoping my SBC long tube Y-pipe would match, but not even close haha. I was able to hack it apart and reweld it together enough to work for now, but it hangs pretty low as-is.
