2210 long tubes, Spohn T56 TQ arm, big exhaust, air ride

The title says it all. It is what I am in the middle of building. About 80% done with a mini tub to be able to tuck the back 315s when the bags empty.

Thinking ahead, what to do about exhaust. I currently go under the frame rails and this sucks at normal ride height. I don't want my exhaust to be my limiting factor when the bags empty. 3" pipes to a 4" mufflex.

I don't mind cutting up the car and welding whatever.

All I can think of is notching the frame and maybe using oval pipe for that section. And adding some reinforcement. SFC and 4 point (min) are "standard" for this build.

Any other ideas? I would prefer not cutting up the crossmember if possible. I was even considering just notching the entire floor! But that seems like a lot off work.

Motor is a 390 with a blow thru carb F1, if anyone is interested.

I made my own trans crossmember back in the day to tuck my custom made 3" ypipe up closer to the floor. I was running 2210s as well. Exhaust was 3" all the way.

I dont think there is a perfect answer for you on what to do about the exhaust. I would go with oval for sure but I think you need to determine how far down the car will sit when the bags are deflated.

I did a 4" cat back last year with 2 bullets ,over the rear axle and single outlet tucked up. Plenty of room in there too. But now am putting it up for sale due to adding twin turbos.

Re: 2210 long tubes, Spohn T56 TQ arm, big exhaust, air ride

Hey Bottled: Yeah I agree, I guess if I had the air-ride first I could measure how much clearance I actually need when the bags are empty. Very good point. At this point I really have no idea what will be my limiting factor on drop. Might be TQ arm on my 12 bolt, or some other random thing I can't think of.

Good news is I have been in communication with Air-Ride Tech and they are eveloping a bag over strut setup for our cars. Rears can be purchased now. I am not buying the current setup they sell. So the bad news is I have to wait to figure this out.

I have plenty left to work on so there should be no issues there. Just sucks that I need to wait till I have the air-ride parts. Really no good way to know exhaust limitations without them.

Thanks again.

Re: 2210 long tubes, Spohn T56 TQ arm, big exhaust, air ride

Hey Badass: Yeah, I had a dual 3" to single 4" over the axle and single out as well. But with the Spohn TQ arm, there is no where to go accept under the frame, unless I cut stuff up.

I really want a slammed look when it is parked so I think Bottled is right, I need to get the air ride first, then measure the space left and find a way to get the exhaust the fit that.

Cool that you are in MA. Not many Thirdgen guys are! Maybe when my build is done I will see you at some shows.
