It is a totally different system under the dash as well but the hole in the firewall is the same. In the older cars with the white gauges the dashboard is even different. You have the same dash as a A/C equipped car. I wonder if you have the big vents in the foot wells.

Re: 1991 1LE - LB9/T-5 car
1) the TPI sticker is one of those blasted things that had no exact spot where it was put... there was probably a specification, but like the birds on the sail panel of the firebirds or the Formula decals on the doors, they kind of put them willie-nillie in a general area and called it a day.
2) The pealing paint problem was an industry problem at the time. what happened was they started using a sealer to seal the cars, then they painted the car. The sealer worked great for sealing, but was not UV stable. since Blues, whites, silvers, grays, use less pigment than Yellows and Reds the UV light was not blocked well enough then attacked the sealer, then it started to flake off. Of course if they put a UV blocker in the clear coat or color coat it would have prevented the problem, or just used a primer either would have prevented having to repaint so many cars...
It is kind of counter intuitive as it would have been thought that the Blues, whites, grays or whatever paint had a blue hue would have reflected more of the UV than Reds or yellows but apparently they don't.

mechanic58 - did you ever conjure up pics of the footwells to see if the vents are there? I have a 1991 C41 RS and I'm wondering if the car is supposed to have them or not.

Nope, sorry. I never got around to it before I sold the car.
