Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
HAHAHAHA everyone thinks their car is special, and to them it really is, can't blame people for being proud of their 3rd gens. But I agree they should check production numbers before posting their pics.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Ahh, the two that got away. I almost bought a MGM '88. I liked the car alot. But it was a peanut cammed LB9/700R4/2.73 with an interior identical to me '89, so I let it go. I saw it a couple years later with a new owner.
My friend had a low miles silver with red interior hardtop. I had chance to buy it, but let it go. THAT one I really regret.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Although unfortunately none of these are mine, here are some gems from the Firehawk Owners website:
Firehawk # 003 (the earliest I could find on the site) All '91s were 'Mandatory' red. Only 8 were made in '91.
Firehawk # 026 (combined numbers for 91-92 were 25 cars. 18 and 23 were not built) This is the only one ordered in Dark Jade Grey Metallic.
Not a Firehawk, but because I'm partial to the color: Medium Quasar Blue Metallic '92 GTA

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
Thanks for the pics. I'm more of a camaro person than a firebird person but, I've always liked the 1991-1992 firebirds.
That Firehawk to me is the best all around performing V8 thirdgen that you could by when these cars were new.

I think the 3rd gen Firehawks WERE the best performing 3rd gens available. They could even compete and exceed super cars of the time like the Vette ZR1, Acura NSX, Ferrari 348, and Porsche 930 turbo. Truly an amazing car!

There were only 15 made in this color!
I also saw the same color on a 92 Trans Am convertible at the 95 Trans Am Nationals, it was bad @ss and so was the girl driving it!
To me, there are a few "Holy Grails" of the Third Gen world. 91/2 Firehawks, 89 TTA cloth interior/hard top (15), and a 92 GTA Jamiaca Yellow (14).
Sweet ride!

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
I ordered a 91 camaro RS that was this color brand new. It was a new color and boy did it turn heads! Unfortunately the L03 V8 was a gutless dog of a motor and I got tired of it after 3 years and sold it.

37 / 9238Dark Bright Teal22,093 Rs-Rsc Bk-G
So 22,093 out of 100,838 total production models were this color in 1991. From the numbers on the 1991 page it is the HIGHEST PRODUCTION NUMBER FOR 1991, sorry to burst your bubble.
Other info can be found here for the 91 Camaro:

"I don't know if this is actually a rare color of not but I have only ever seen 2 one of them being mine. can someone tell me the numbers on how many of the dark bright teal were made in 91?"
You got a factual answer and don't like it so now you could "care less", it is a nice color and did look great on the Camaro, anyway sorry about the bubble comment, I edited that out moments after I put it up, thought I got it in time, oops.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
If you look closely you will see that I didn't ask the question. Xcorvettekid06x did. I just responded to his post. I had an idea that color wasn't rare as after I got mine in late 1990, the color was everywhere. Don't worry about the "burst your bubble" comment. Its ok. Im sorry too if I came off like a jerk. I guess I just have gotten a little annoyed at some of the info ***** here. I really appreciate the knowledge that some folks here have. And I am always looking for new information about things that I am interested in like this great Icon of a vehicle. But some of you have to remember that not everyone has the time or the patience to learn all there is to know about these cars. If someone asks a question that has been asked 100 times in the past but they are brand new here, give them a break! I understand that folks get tired of being asked if a particular car is "rare" or valuable but the inquiry is usually made by someone who wants to know but maybe doesnt know that they can use a search button on here to find most things out. It seems like everyone is looking for that next ZL1 that no one knew about back in the day but now is worth a fortune. With the exception of the 92 firehawk, which was very expensive in its day, there aren't many 3rd generations that are going to fit that category. The IROCZ is the car that got me into cars when I was 15 years old. I love them and I am happy to be here and look forward to finding out even more about them from all of you. Again jfl1960, im sorry I came off like a *****. Thanks for that info on the dark teal metallic production numbers. I wish they would have offered the 87 IROCZ in that color!

Here is a good article on COPO 1969 ZL1 for anyone not familiar to that reference, they have resurrected the ZL1 designation in the 4th gen and copy cat retro 5th gen Camaro, but this is real deal and where the legend was born, only took 30 seconds to find it using Google, reading it on the other hand took a while longer, check it out:

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
That teal color being on 20 percent of 91-92 F-bodies is unsurprisng. Seems like every clapped out RS I saw for years and years had that color on it and I grew to dislike it. Now those beaters have all died off and only the nice examples are left. It really is a nice color. And it may have been a huge color for 91-92, but it was a new color for those years, yes? And 91-92 are pretty rare in comparison to the production numbers of every other years. You dont notice because tehy're the newest and there's more of them left... but the numbers for those two years were scary low compared to the first 5 years especially.
and, grngryoutmyway, I've only seen that color 2 or 3 other times. That color is quite the eye-catcher.

I've only seen three 1987 Z28's in this color combo. First one was inside the Norwood assembly plant, second one was this car, and the third was a local car about 12 years ago which was in for service at the local Chevrolet dealer I was working. This particular car was shot Aug '87 at Camp Chevrolet in Chamblee, GA.

heres mine dark green grey first year for that color, not alot around not sure about production numbers either though. yes oscar the heritage was a 92 option, all 92 camaros were 25th's but the heritage package was the striping option on the red black and white cars with color matched grilles. dont think think that any other colors had stripes, but could be wrong.

Re: Post pics of the rare colors and heritage cars!!!!
But does natural attrition hit the "special" versions as hard as it hits the boring versions? I say no. And the attrition is getting to the point that finding useful factory-ground-effect versions or V8 T5 versions in the salvage yards is history. So even a hardtop LG4 sport coupe that isn't a rusty beater has become a big deal, any running LB9 is a big deal, and any V8 T5 is a big deal now. Combine any 2 of them, you have something worth saving. And bragging about.
