Small air to water would be pointless.

Waiting on a first pass date...I keep saying I'll have to stop by and have a look. Waiting for the snow and salt to get washed off the roads first.

That's possibly one of the finest looking assembly of parts I've seen.

Finished the car up at Nolans and moved it back home.

Rear firewall done. NHRA rules state that the battery and fuel cell have to be separated from the drivers compartment.

When do you anticipate being on the road?
I figure by this time next week the roads will be suitable enough for a spin provided it rains a little to wash the **** away.

More progress on interior installation. The rear seat will get dyed later on, but for now I am just trying to get the car done for the season opener.

Re: My 1986 Z-28 build thread *PIC HEAVY*

Welp, I managed to get the car done before my goal, it was tight but some of you may have seen it at the opener on saturday night. This update will basically cover everything for the week before the opener.

Got the car on the dyno monday night. Went well other then the fact that the wastegates are to small and we couldnt keep the boost under control. Could take the springs right out of the gates and vent the tops to atmosphere and the car would still make 16+ PSI. (thats just where we lifted as the boost was still going up) Ended up making 910 RWHP on 16 PSI and 16 degrees timing and on 19 psi it made 1040RWHP on the same timing. Ultimately the goal is to get the boost under control and run it around 15-16psi on pump gas and I think once the boost issue is sorted and we work on the tune a bit more (and add some timing) it will make 950RWHP. Eventually I will turn the boost up and put come C16 in it and see what it will make for power, but for now, this is more then enough.

Spent all of saturday moving the wastegates so they had better priority in the exhaust flow to try and help to control the boost... Long story short, it didnt work, lol

Put the car back on the dyno this weekend for the Horsepower Solutions dyno day. Ran itwith some race gas and a bit more boost and timing... The results, 1213 rwhp, 1001 ft lbs of torque to the tires.

Sorry, but that thing wouldn't be street legal. Texas has pretty easy inspection requirements, but your rear tires alone would fail you. Lots of race cars get driven on the street that have no legal right to be there, but that does NOT make them "street cars".

That being said, it looks great, and good job on the build. You took your time and did it right, the attention to detail is outstanding, and you even made sure the body and paint were perfect.

Go away. I've put dam near 900 miles on my car this month, I will never stop calling my car a street car, nor will I stop driving it.

Your car launched on that dyno in the youtube video! I've followed your build and I wish I had half of the skills that you did. You made a great car! Too bad 3rd gens didn't 1,000 hp engines from the factory lol. You must have a lot of fun embarrassing cars on the street and the track.

And that kind of attitude is why race cars belong on the track. BTW, you might want to check your local regs; http://www.qp.alberta.ca/documents/Regs/2009_122.pdf

And you might wanna go **** yourself. Dont like what I do with my car? Then leave. This is a street car. It has functioning headlights, tail lights, horn, turn signals, hazard lights, I run drag radials on the street, and a Radial tire aswell in the front. Idles all day long at 900rpm, runs at 140 degree F, in 85 degree heat, runs down the highway at 65mph and 2600rpm and never misses a beat. If it never saw a race track in its life, I couldn't care less.

The car looks great, and it looks like it performs well. I'd like to see some time slips at some point, but keep enjoying your car the way that you want.

That's a good question. I was at the track last night and was looking for you in the 'Heavy Hitter' lane. It was a good night too.

Re: My 1986 Z-28 build thread *PIC HEAVY*

Those are great times! You must have had a big smile on your face all the way down the track. Not a lot of 8 second cars are able to be driven on the street as well. I would have loved to see people's reaction when you ran that time slip.
