1983 Sport Coupe Restoration
After 15 years, I've started on the restoration of my 1983 Camaro. I hoping to have the tear down done by the 2nd week of June, so paint and body can begin. The interior is so clean, I plan to steam clean it and reinstall it.

Looking good! Original SC's are so rare nowadays.

Re: 1983 Sport Coupe Restoration
Thanks. I've got it torn down a lot further, but I'm sure no one wants to see boring pictures. The only thing I don't have...of course, is the original motor. My father bought it new in 1983, sold it to my aunt in 1985, and after she used it as a daily driver she gave it to me in 1996. Being the dumb kid I was I blew the motor, and we swapped in a 350. Other than that it is complete. When I joined the Army in 1999 it set and never moved again until last year. A friend of mine who has restored several cars has offered to paint it, so the restoration begins!

Re: 1983 Sport Coupe Restoration
As crazy as it sounds, I would like to get a new prom for the ecm that will work for the 350 and take it back as far as stock as possible. I plan to put the original 14" rally's back on as well. At most I'll leave in the emissions legal headers, and perhaps upgrade to a serpentine belt system. I open to any thoughts or suggestions.

I'm all for going back to as original as possible as well as the factory 14" wheels.

Looks like an interesting project. Great that's it's been in your family since new. I look forward to following along.

Thanks. I plan to post some more pictures soon. It is almost ready to go up on jack stands for final disassembly and paint.
