New Personal Best

10.517 @ 131.29

backed up by a 10.588 @ 130.54

DA was high yesterday. ( 3,000' ) I did not play with carb jetting nor did I adjust the timing. The only change I made from last year was my shift light setting. changing from 7000 to 7800 yielded 10.6s @ 127 -125 dropping it down to 7400 fetched the 10.5s @ 130-131 (which was 4 MPH more than shifting @ 7000 last season ) so there was some progress there as I think I found the sweet spot for shifting.

I had starting issues with my Red Top Optima battery (I think it's not enough amps for my high-compression engine once it's heat soaked) so that was a hassle. The battery would take a charge and the alternator was also functioning but this Red Top only has 720 CCA..

I will post video when I have chance.

I will address my battery issue, and next time out I will put a bit more timing into it (I am at 32, on the engine dyno best power was at 36)

One step at a time as they say..

Re: New Personal Best

I ordered a new set of #1 gage side post battery cables and some heat wrap for the + cable and starter.

I am still using the OEM cables LOL... time to go !

This should help to get the battery amps to the starter when it's heat soaked,
if not then I may see if I can fit a larger series Yellow top battery (deep cycle) with a couple hundred more amps of cranking power.

If I can't fit a larger battery in the stock location maybe I will just get a second 75 series red top and put it on the driver's side. (which was an OEM location on early 3rd gens)
wire the batteries in parallel and that will give me 1440 CCA 12V system !! LOL
technically both batteries are in OEM locations so it should pass tech without a kill switch (grey area I am sure ) Anyone ever try this?
