sbc 350 please help! 84 T/A
Hi, i have a sbc 350, 4 bolt main 70's, with new plugs, wires, timing chain, hi-lift cam, used HEI dist., and Carter AFB that all seem alright. Carb was good on other car. I beleive timing is set right, and I see nice sparks, and it's getting gas. here's the problem. the motor is not even try to fire at all, and wired thing is, the gas is coming right back from carb just like fountain. I guess it's getting some pressure from inside, I dont know how. It cannot be happening if everything was alright... especially the timing... which i made sure so many times with my friend's help who is a mechanic. he couldnt figure out either. the dist. is now set 0 degree, but it wont fire at any degree I tried. the starter is not that strong, but i dont know if it is the problem. also, when turning the crank, it gets pretty hard to turn at some point. after it pass that hard point, it turns ok, but it does every turn. is it because of the fuel pump? please give me any suggestion. thank you.

Disconnect power from the distributor. Turn it over. Still get gas coming from the carb?
Yes - It's flooding. You need to take it apart and clean up the needle & seat(s).
No - The distributor is in 180 degrees out.
