Intake & code 42

Had the car back from getting the intake gaskets completely redone. Noticed a ses light after left, went home and pulled code 42.

I noticed it was downshifting after far pedal travel and it was lacking a bit of power.

So I wanted to know if when the tpi intake is removed, is the distributor or timing messed with at all? Or may it be a sensor that they left unplugged that I can do myself?

I'm hoping they left something unplugged so I don't have to wait another day on this car. And reason for asking If removing tpi intake caused this code is to have them fix it. A lot of shops like to pull the whole its an old car, stuff breaks. You can pay us to fix it..

And I'll know I'm going to be blasted for going to a shop, but not many of us can get time from work to do a 7hr gasket job :/

Re: Intake & code 42

The distributor has to be pulled and then the timing has to be reset. The tan and black wire for the est could be disconnected. You have to disconnect it to set initial timing. Maybe they never plugged it back in. Here's to hopes of the simple.

Re: Intake & code 42

Thank you! I finally figured out what everyone was referencing to in the posts I've searched!

It was defiantly disturbed but is plugged in completely. Best bet now is to have them fix it tomorrow

Re: Intake & code 42

Shop did it in an hour, apparently the est wire actually came apart down in the wire bundle
