1985 LG4 Drivability issues
I'm the original owner of a 1985 Camaro with the LG4 engine. This engine runs as good today as the day we bought it, which means it runs fairly bad. It cranks forever before starting when cold, has a rough stumbling idle with Lots of hesitation during any brisk acceleration, bad gas milage and lack of power.. This is my wife's summer weekend car and I seldom drive it, but every time I do I promise to do something with it! We are now doing some general 30 year overhaul stuff and it's time to get serious. I see lots of posts about making more power ( headers and cams mostly for a start) but little on generally improving the drivability. Considering converting to TPI but open to other suggestions. Any advise?

Carb rebuild
That, and the fuel filter, are the source of the majority of the symptoms you describe

Converting to TPI on that engine would be a performance downgrade.
Do what sofa says, and if you want to boost the performance from there, get an exhaust system spec'd for an L98 car, from manifolds to tailpipes.
If you change cams, then headers would help.
