What am I missing?

Hey Everyone! First off I want to thank everyone for the wealth of knowledge in this forum, and I hope that you guys will welcome my little project I'm about to talk about.
I've already visited this forum numerous times and figured that the questions that I have, I might as well just create an account and ask them!

So a little back story here. I have a 1967 2WD Chevy C10 pickup that I am in the process of swapping a 305 TPI motor from a 1990 Formula Firebird. The engine is basically a stock speed density 305 TPI with the exception of a different intake, long tube headers and all the emission/smog accessories deleted.
I have a stand alone engine harness, but I also have the full harness from the donor vehicle.
What I'm running in to is that the engine will hesitate when you take off from a start. I am uncertain if this is by design, or if I'm missing something obvious.
Where I'm at right now is that I just snagged a Vehicle Speed Sensor from Stealth Conversions, installed a new knock sensor, new plugs, but I'm consistently throwing a code 43 (ESC Failure). I dont know where to go from here.
I am wondering if its time to upgrade my ePROM. The donor vehicle was a 5 speed car with 90K miles on it. I've got this mated to a TH350 in the truck.
I've also deleted all the accessories and switched from a serpentine belt style back to the old V Belt style accessories. That coupled with the exhaust, the auto transmission and no smog/emission stuff but still running the stock computer... I'm wondering if that is my problem.
So as the title of the thread states... What am I missing with this install?

A automatic transmission will help with take off, if your not using a vss I would install this,

Resolve the esc issue first to see if it resolves the hesitation.
Btw if you haven't verified closed loop operation with running the headers you can do so in field service mode.
Headers usually cool off the O2 so it will no het up to 5-600f and become active.
A 3 wire heated O2 such as a acdelco ads-74 works well.
If you didn't replace the stock multec injectors you might consider southbay08's Bosch 3s 19#hr injectors. With the newer fuel the could winding in these injectors short out. Flow not being good from old age / a sitting fuel system will really effect performance.

looking at your thread, there could be a fuel delivery issue with hard acceleration and cornering. If this is just a gravity feed to the high pressure pump from the tank. you may consider a surge tank installed under the cab below the fuel tank. I wouldn't think with that tank behind the seat setup you would need a low pressure pump without modifying the tank for a bottom feed eliminating the siffen.

Do you think it could be an issue? I'm not sure if it would be considered a gravity fed system since the pickup tube goes in from the top... I have a constant 40+lbs of pressure at the rails. I have the fuel pump wired in standalone through the truck's wire harness, not connected to the fuel pump relay in the engine harness. So when the key is on, the pump is running. Could that be an issue?
The VSS link you sent me looks identical to the one I just installed in the transmission also.
Also, another question about the esc... Where is it located? Is it integrated into the PROM or ECM, or is it a standalone unit? The reason I'm asking is because the KS I just installed is brand new, and the wiring is all solid. If the code 43 turns out to be the esc, where does that go?

The esc module is in the end on the memcal. The knock sensor should ohm 3.9k. I think the two main issues would be the code 42 issue and the probelamatic Multec injectors. I would address these issues first . There is a axxb memcal and eco on eBay right now.

Well Tuned Perf helped me fix that code 43. THANK YOU!

Turns out the manufacturer of the standalone harness I got put the knock sensor wire in E9 instead of F9 into the ECM. Swapped that around and now no code 43 and there is a LOT better throttle response!
