Fuel issue, won't start after hot and sitting.

I did not know if anyone has had this issue I looked on here and saw several things similar but not quite the same. My car (89 TPI 350) starts up great when the engine is cold. However when I drive it say to a movie then come back to go home it will not start. Its getting spark but it just turns over at normal speed but no start. If I either wait til its completely cold again or spray starter fluid in in the intake (yes i know thats not good for it) it will start right up. The fuel pump is new and its not a starter issue because it still spins just as fast at all times. Can someone PLEASE help out im tired of just letting her sit there and not be ran.

Have you checked your fuel pressure at the rail when it's hot?

I really do not have a way to do that. The pump primes though so I assume its getting fuel. Are you thinking its maybe the fuel pressure regulator?

It's possibly the regulator but you need to verify that the system is holding pressure. The check valve in the pump or a faulty regulator can bleed off the fuel pressure as soon as the pump stops.

Yeah unfortunately I do not have a way to test anything fuel wise. I am going to try to get a gauge for the fuel rail over the weekend. I just needed some ideas or input as to what this could be. I am just sick of driving it and getting stranded for a few hours til it cools off. If you have anymore ideas as to what I should check please post.

Re: Fuel issue, won't start after hot and sitting.

I had that exact problem and it ended up being the injectors. Replaced the ignition module and distributor, checked fuel pressre, bought a noid light set to make sure the injectors were getting signal...yada yada. Ultimately, it was the injectors. Replaced all 8 with ford 24 pounders.

...but....gotta do your homework and check everything. Ya never know.
