Starting issue
I have a starting issue. Before now the car would start when cold every time no problem. Then after warming up it wouldn't start. Turn the key and nothing. I replaced the neutral safety switch and still had the same issue.
Now it won't start at all. If I turn the key to run and cross the terminals on the starter it will start. Found out today that I have power from the ignition switch to the neutral safety switch but nothing coming out of it. If I hold the key in start position and cross the terminals at the nuetral safety switch it will start. The switch is brand new

Re: Starting issue
OK. Does the switch change state when you shift from P/N to D? Probably needs to be adjusted. HTH!

Re: Starting issue
No. I can hold the key in the start position (with my foot holding the brake) and move the shifter through every position and nothing happens.

Re: Starting issue
The "new" switch is either no good or needs to be adjusted. Can you engage the switch by pushing the plunger in and see if it will start. The best way would be to use an ohm meter and check resistance through the switch (no wires connected). Should show 0 ohms in P/N and be open (infinite resistance) in any other gear. You can also use a test light but disconnect the ppl wire going to the starter so as not to engage the starter when making the adjustment to the switch. The drawback to using a test light is the need to turn the ignition switch to start position when making or testing the adjustment. GL!
