700R4 to T5 Swap Rewiring Simplified with Pics!
I thought I'd try to get some answers/clarification for the electrically challenged like myself, who do better with pictures. I plan to clean this up after I get some verification and make a straight forward how to.
Hopefully this can be simplified to help myself and others.
Here are the relevant wires to swap from 700R4 to T5 (both are from 1991)
1) These are harnesses that attach to the T5 (top) & 700R4 (bottom wires).
Leave the 700R4 white plug unplugged.
Use your Green & Blue wires from T5 harness and wire it directly to the auto shifter Green & Blue wires.
Run the wires up through the grommet in front of your shifter hole.
The two harness in back are the same on T5 & 700R4 (direct swap)
2) The big Purple and Green wires obviously come over from the auto shifter harness.
The remaining plugs all match (direct fit from one assembly to the other), with one exception: The harness on the right of auto pedal doesn't plug into the 5 spd. pedal assembly
directly (black piece on left that is activated when clutch is not depressed).
My fingers are pointing to these.
Here is a pic of auto & manual pedals side by side again.
Do I connect wires from auto assembly (Pink w/Black & Purple) to black piece of 5 spd. assembly (Brown w/White & Brown) ?
I don't know their function, just that they are the only plugs that don't direct fit from one assembly to the other...
And the remaining on Auto Shifter: Orange and Black...
My big questions:
1) How to connect black piece on far left of T5 pedals & it's function.
2) On Auto Shifter: Many say tape off the Orange and Black, BUT...I've read orange may be hatch release and black is some sort of ground?
I'm trying to make a simple to understand post with pictures for the wiring only.
If I have anything wrong, please correct me.
Hopefully this can be simplified to help myself and others.

Re: Auto to T5 Swap Electrical Rewiring Simplified with Pics!
Funny, I'm right in the middle of my T5 swap and I was just about to start a thread based on the same question(s). I was confused because of this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...questions.html I was going to follow the directions in the thread, but I wasn't sure about the "reverse lockout re-wire" and the "splicing of the back-uplight wires" into the harness that plugs into the driver side of the T5 trans. Not sure if the T5 re-wiring instructions are the same as in the T56 swap (thread)???

Nothing from the 3 wire T700 plug is used for the swap
Most just extend the backup light wiring ( grn and blue wires ) from the shifter plug through the floor to the T5 backup switch

Pink wire is a Key on feed
when brake pedal depressed it cuts off power to the TCC so the lockup disengages
If the switch on the man setup is for the NS switch ( don't have any manuals with me at present ) then that would have to operate the starter relay so the wiring is completely different
Orange is P/N feedback to the ECM , black is the ground for that switch
You can also see the TCC wiring through the brake switch
