How much of a PITA is the forward torque arm mount to buy and replace?
Teaching my 20- year old son to drive a stick in my LB9/5-speed and one too many whip stalls clunking the torque arm... came loose on my way home from the car wash this weekend. Sounds like someone whacking the floor with a hammer.
Been doing all my other work on the car, dealer wants it flatbedded and I'm tapped for cash (did I mention he is in college?)
Question: where can you put the floor jack under a thirdgen front end to get the damn thing in the air. Don't have a 4-post. Did a quick lift on the X-member in front of the oil pan, but swore it looked knock kneed when it came down.
Also, how hard is it to find the part -- assume it is an '82-02 piece that should be pretty easy to come by.
Thanks!

Under the front stock LCA is always okay to lift.
Yep. There are two torque arm lip directions (W or M depending on viewpoint) and the T5 version fits T56.
I have one from a 95 V6 with bolts and new ES bushing I could let go of.

It's not that hard to get these cars up high. You just need a good jack and stands and common sense. I got one right now sitting with the bottom of doors 28" off the ground.
2 ton or larger hyd. floor jack under the center of front K member... Jack it up. This will lift both sides of the front at once. Place a 2 ton min jack stand under each A arm close to the ball joint, and slowly let your jack down.
Same jack, placed under center of rear end/rear axle chunk.. Jack it up. Will lift both sides of rear at same time. Place 2 ton min jackstands under the rear axle tubes.. Left jack down.
The torque arm mount is a common stocked item at most auto parts stores... Couple diff designs so wait till you get under your car and see what you have before you buy.
Also if you can, buy an aftermarket poly mount to go back on it, and I also recommend changing out the trans mount while you are there.
