Car: 1984 Camaro
Engine: 2.8L V6 2BBL (yeah I know...)
Transmission: 700R4 automatic
the Swap: '88 MPFI coverted to '84 carb'd setup

Background for those who may not recognize this from my other post....the motor in my '84 Camaro developed a rod knock, and I am in the process of converting an engine out of an '88 to fit in the '84...

I noticed tonight that the oil pans are different in the front...I'd imagine that I should be able to use the '84's pan on the 88 motor as long as I use the '84's timing cover, right?

As far as the harmonic balancer goes, which motor's should I use?

Should the crank pulleys line up?

reuse the 84 oil pan w/the 84 front cover. reuse the 88 balancer w/the 88 engien. keeps things simple & matched up. any chance of hunting down a fageol charger durring the swap?

sorry to be naive...but what is a fageol charger?

Next question concerns the fuel pump. Admitedly, tonight while working on the car was the first time I actually got a good look at the mechanical pump and realized that it has a second, smaller line coming off of it. My guess is that it's a return line...right?? the nipple only has a pinhole, not a fully bored out port like the main nipple does....

Going to the '88 block, I have to use an electric in-line pump from here on out, but I am unsure of what to do with that second line. I'd really like to have everything work like factory as far as fuel and vapor flow goes. My last Camaro (1983, V6, auto) had the electric setup on it when I bought it, with that second line blocked off, and it died on me every time the weather got hot. Vapor lock, apparently. That car was the previous owner's hacked up Frankenproject, a converted 4-cyl Camaro, so I don't know if that blocked line actually had much to do with the stalling problem. And up to this point, I have rather enjoyed my '84...which does not decide to pick the busiest intersection in town on warm days to die in.

With the mechanical pump, is that extra line to relieve excess pressure (vent) or to return unused fuel?
