2.8 auto to manual swap
Hello everyone. I have a few questions about a swap i would like to do.
So far i am on my second 700r4 transmission. Its starting to slip badly, so i figured this would be a perfect time to research a manual swap. I have found a few cars within my area that could be a good start.
My first question is will parts from a 1994 3.4L camaro be compatible with the 2.8 motor? (t5 transmission, pedal assembly, flywheel, etc.
Or will i have to use a 82-92 v6 parts?
The only reason I ask is there is a 94 camaro being parted out in my area cheap. Otherwise I need to travel a good distance for a 82-92 manual v6 parts car.
Thanks!
Ben

Re: 2.8 auto to manual swap
easiest way to tell would be to look up the part numbers for a 2.8 vs a 3.4. I think everything will work.
When it came to the pedals, I am lazy and didn't want to swap the gas pedal, so I cut that off of the 3.4 manual pedal assembly. It works fine for me.

The spline count is different on the 4th gen T5 trans. See the 6th post in the link below.

Re: 2.8 auto to manual swap
Hello everyone, figured id bump this thread. I missed out on the opportunity to get the 4th gen t5, but now i have an opportunity to get everything from a third gen parts car.
I can get everything I need to do the swap for $400. The parts car is a 1992 3.1 t5 and im swapping that transmission in my 1988 2.8 700r4 car. The $400 includes the transmission, driveshaft, pedal assembly, clutch, flywheel, ecu, shifter plate, and the manual center console.
is there anything else i need to get from this parts car to complete my auto to manual swap? Also, will the t5 from the '92 use the same speedo gear that was attached to the 700r4 transmission?
