dumb question; wheel / rim removal - stuck
1990 Camaro - RS ;
Ok ... long story short, a fire got going under part of the front of the car (leaves), and I got it out rather quickly with a fire extinguisher (3-5 min), but there was enough heat it melted the plastic air intake piece, some outer wire coverings, and popped the front left tire..... hole blew in the tire nearest to the ground in the sidewall. Assessing damage and what needs fixed, replaced , etc.
OK. well, finally.... got around to taking the tire/rim off the car. Jacked it up, had lugs removed..... and this thing will NOT budge. I mean I can not even get the rim to wobble. So, obviously I cannot get the rim off to replace the tire.
I've never had this happen. I did some tapping, good shaking, tugging, etc. .... and the rim literally won't budge one bit. Not even a hair.
Not sure what could be holding it so solid.... tires have been on it for about 4-5 yrs.
Any ideas ? ? ? How to get this thing removed without destroying things ?

Wheels will commonly get siezed to the hubs, properly support the car give the wheel a really good kick, maybe more. It will come loose

Spray the wheel / hub area with pb blaster between the rim and brake (lug area). Let it sit for like 10-30 mins. hit the rim/tire with a large rubber mallet to break it loose. I even got under the car as I had it up on jack stands and kicked the tire to free it. Just did this yesterday. The rust between the Aluminum rim and rotor was holding it like it was welded in place. I feel your pain.

i've run across this many time in my job i put 1 lugnut on the stud a FEW turns to keep the rim from flying off make sure properly jacked up grab a 3-5lbs mallet get under the car and hit the outer area of rim NOT TIRE start light hits rotate tire 90 degrees hit again repeat process progressively hitting harder it will come off

my friend put the lug nuts on a few threads and takes it for a driver around the block.. normally works.
