Thursday when I came to my car after school, I noticed a dent with about 1 foot diameter in the left rear quarter behind the wheel and under the gas cap. I also noticed their is a crack in the front bumper with some scratches and scuff marks. I don't have collision, and they don't have cameras in the parking lot. So I don't think I'll ever know who caused the damage. The paint job was done in 2000 and was 3600 bucks. My dad estimated the damage at $700 bucks.

Because I have very little money, I would like to know if their is any way I could fix the dent myself. Are you able to hammer from the inside in that area?

I finally got the pics back. Here is the damage done to the front bumper. You can see the crack on top, and the white scratch in the middle.

 

Heres a pic of the left rear q panel dent.

 

Heres another pic of the dent. You can see the reflection of the garage right above it.

 

I'd go walk around your parking lot and look for cars with damage that matches up to your damage, then look for paint transfer between your car and her's (just a guess on the sex)

Then get the cops involved and see what they think...

 

Theirs not paint transfer on the dent, but their are white scuff marks. That may be the clear coat scratched off, or from a white or grey car. Because their was damage in two different spots, it leads me to think it wasn't a car.

 

Almost looks like it could have been done by a snow plow or something like that, in the second pic...

 

it can be fixed i dunno about gettin to it fomr inside but takin and rillin holes and usin dent puller or slide hammer same thing, would pull the dent out.

and for crack glue it together w/ seal all or epoxy or plastic cement or glue that should work then fill it over w/ bondo or something

might b possible to just fill it good w/ glue and smooth glue out n primer n paint it

white scratch may sand out if it didnt tear thru yur paint.

if so sand it smooth well smooth otu edges then repaint it.


and i know its expensive but i got a point on that.

instead of gettin hole car done u could just do a 1/4 panel and front bumper or even less n cheaper....

go to body shop supply store if ya can find one near ya.

have em mix u the paint to match yur car in a spray can!!

yeap spray can i know ppl dont beleive in thsi maybe but trust me it works!!!

its pure automotive paint but has propelant in it to make it aerosol paint.

itll look just like original and match close to if they mix it right.

then just spray areas ya need and take let dry , litely wet sand w/ thousand grit or finer and use some rubbin of buffing compound to buff it and that will get rid of the dry lookin dull spots.

and look good again.

weve done that many times on dads s10

due to rust spots and accessories added.

 

You should be able to get to the back side of that dent. You'll have to remove some of the plastic panels in the hatch. For a temporary fix, you might be able to pop the dent out by pushing it out from the inside. It probably won't fix it completely but it might make it look better.

 

havent tried it but what about that hot glue thing the sell on tv the dent poper or something like that might get the rear if you cant get behind it. The front looks like someone kicked it or put there foot on it leaning on the front.

 

i remembered a lil backyard secret n dont laugh it works great use a toilet plunger!!!!

it will pop out some dents but ones thats creased it prolly wont but it works fine on alot of em.

Would that work on a dent this big? I think I would just buy a new plunger first.

nope wouldnt think yud do any damage

we had a tire bounce being thrown otu back of truck n hit 1/4 panel put dent in it grabbed plunger and popped right out.

yurs was right on crease tho so might not do that well

u cna try tho also auto parts stores sale a lil hand held type plunger for doin this

go check that out over were bondo n stuff is

u gotta push plunger down good nto hard enough to make new dent but u know get good bond then pull like hell just watch it comes loose u gonna be fallin prolly lol.

worth a try only other thing might do is pull it w/ slide hammer

guy said if dont got a slide hammer can drill hole put in sheet metal screw or a screw n pull the screw w/ pair of pliers to pul it so that may work 2.

 

after lookin at it again i think yea plunger may bring it out somewhat at least help ya to get it out more

may even bring whole thing out

I can't imagine a plunger helping that damage. it's creased! I'd bring it to a body shop for an estimate and if it's way over what you can afford, ask if there are any less expensive ways to go about repairing it. if it were round and just pushed in, you may be able to pull it out but not with a crease like that.

 

ive used plunger one worse and yeas it wont completely fix it like i said it may work may not since creased.

but it will bring dent out more to make ti easier to pull and less bondo

 

I'm going to call my body shop and ask what kind of plunger they use.

 

they might laugh at ya its kinda an untold trade backyard secret and it works.

auto stores sale a palm type one but a regualr old toiler plunger works better then the rest

 

damn, Your car looks good, too... This is why you always get collision. idiots will always find and hit the car without.

 

Because I'm 16, its like 400 a month for collision. I've had my license for 5 months, so the damage wouldn't have paid off. My insurance is already 4 dollars and some cents a day. Thats without any accidents or tickets.

 

That has got to be the most ******* halfassed way to fix a dent I have ever heard of. I dunno if I would trust a guy whos car is all primer to give bodywork advice.

Hey, don't get too upset. My car is completely in primer(black) too. It was more of a joke. I tried that TV puller and it didn't work for crap on any of my dents. I just had to laugh imagining someone on the streets putting a plunger on his car and pulling. He spend $3000 on a paint job a few years ago so I figure he isnt looking for an easy out.

my paint and all the stuff to apint my car wont be more then 500
thats paint, reducer,masks for paintin,hardner,flex agent stuff,
and quart of black for my stripes and the reducer for it.

i couldnt seen given that much for paint job but if ya cant do it yaself n want it done right i guess it would be ok to pay that price.

Their was a crack in the paint afterwards, and I chipped it off and covered it with primer. Will normal winter driving affect the primer, or should I cover it with paint soon?

i heard somewere that spray can paints or primers one wont seal out water to avoid rust so i dont know.

if it was me id leave it alone if u plan on painting soon but if not then id go on paint it so it match car better.

but just keep in mind when u do paint it w/ rattle can itll have be taken all off to the primer before it can be done w/ automotive grade paint or itll crackle and junk.

I used a spray can of rust-o-lem(think thats how you spell it), then sprayed it on to a piece of newspaper. Then I took a small brush and put it on.

 

u just brushed on primer?

or u mean u done paint that way?

ive done that before tho take spray the paint in the lid take brush and paint it on mostly for custom lettering and stuf tho

lol it's far from mint. Daily driven with 78 thousand miles.

If you look at the top right part of the bumper, you can see the crack. And in the middle you can see the white scratch.
