Texas took me to a road near his town that was pretty damn dead. We had his brother go to the underpass a about 500 ft. away from where we started just to watch (he also recorded it). We ran twice. First time was from a stop and Texas got me out of the hole with his ET streets, I spun so bad my tires were smoking. He gets about a car and a half away from me from the start and I slowly gain on him, id say I was 3/4 of a car away from him when I shifted to third and I hit the damn rev limiter at the top of third and he got half a car length. He ended up beating me by about a car and a half from a stop but I was pulling on him towards the end.

The second race was really damn fun. This was from a 20mph roll and his brother got it on tape. He honked three times and we both punched it. Texas took off quicker but right when we hit the underpass I was right at his door and I was gonna pull away from him but I hit the damn rev limiter at the top of 2nd this time and he got another half a car ahead of me. Through 3rd I didn't gain much on him but in fourth I was on his quarter panel all the way to 145mph and neither of us were fricken pulling from each other. It was all a drivers race there. We are definatly at the same power level. Mine is just located up top. The new cam makes power all the way to 6500 and thats where im shifting. But the rev limiter is at 6600. I need to bump that up to 6800.

The funny part of all of this was when we shut down the second race texas kept going and I couldn't figure out why until a half a mile down the road he pulls over and I ask him if he wants to run again, he says I can't if I wanted to. The tranny is stuck in fourth. That damn thing was jammed in there. I kept tellin him he really must not have wanted to lose because he must have slammed that shifter into the syncro bad. Either way after the clutch cooled down it got out.

Awesome fricken race. Bought time I raced someone with good driving skills. Texas is a damn good driver. I need to reset that rev limiter because I know I could have had him had I not bounced off of it.

Later that night I ran his brother who has a 79 trans am with a 454 carbed big block thats cammed. He smoked the hell out of me. We both went from a 20mph roll and third honk punched it. At first I thought I was gonna hang cus we both got the torque jerk and I began to pull for about a second, once he hit second, fricken forget it, he blew way the hell past me. I shut down at 80 because he had already put 4 cars on me and jeez that guy was bookin it.

Awesome night!!

Hey Pasky, what about getting some hook?

You need to get some parts in that beast to put the new found power to the pavement.

Sounds good though...

What did yall have a gathering or just do the cam swap over the weekend?

Did he use tuner cat to get that cam dialed in? A dyno tune would probably help out a bunch with that cam.

I had a tune from madz28 already ready to go. I use tuner cat to flash it. I need to have him try to get rid of some of the cam surge under 1800rpm but other than that feels strong. Once again, I need bigger injectors.

Hahaha, I hear that. THe idle was set at 900 but I put it at 800 because it sounds a lot better. The surge really doesn't bother me, but if I can make it only surge a few hundred rpm lower, why not? .

That cam should lope a bit but never surge. You are going about getting the tune down in the right manor.

Me? No way Jose. It has surge, check out camaroz28. Its normal to have surge on the 306 and gm847 below 2000rpm. A tune can help but it won't get rid of all of it.

a 306 should be making atleast 50 more ponies then a HC even in identical motors...you still have stock LT1 heads right pasky?...

good runs though...

my 224/230 will cold idle at 400-500 rpms and its carbed...

shifty..a 306 will lope A LOT more then a little bit lol..thats a pretty big cam for a 350....and no matter what itll surge below 2 grand

Lope yes, surge no. For a carb 350 I would agree 100%. Most LT1 guys have great manors with this cam when properly tuned. It is a monster indeed and needs a lot of ECM work. Cams like this really need a dyno tune to get them right.

uh, no. with a little work on a tuner you should be able to get no surge at all at any rpm. GM847, yeah, its going to surge, but you can still minimize it by adjusting the timing tables.
