Auto-X (part duex)
Is anyone up for some more Auto-X this Sunday? Has your swollen groin healed from the last adventure? Saturday practice still is open for those of you willing to do that. If you want to have fun testing your driving skills, meet us out at Fontana this Sunday. I know, I know ... short notice, but I mentioned this back after the last Auto-X.

Engine: Last time I checked...
Transmission: See "Engine"...
I want to go, but I've got to continue working on my kitchen. Once the kitchen is finished, I can take the GTA out to play.

Well sh*%-fire!!!!!
Well practice is full, and i kinda want more than just 3 runs. Maybe if i have nothing better to do ill be out there but 40 bucks for three runs. IF you guys want some fun in a lot less competive environment, Run with the Porsche club of America Riverside region. The next autocross is august 13th and it is at night. Its at orange show speedway. Its a hell of a lot more fun, a lot cooler, and you get to embarrase a couple of porshces.

Well Its along fun story. It took place at terminal island raceway
(Drag Strip) in So-Cal. A friend of mine and I, both of us seasoned SCCA Autocross people and with well setup ESP and SM class cars went to the race track to see what our cars would run in AutoX setups.
He had a 78 ESP Firebird that ran 14.0's , Myself "SM" ran 13.4 both of us with severe tire spin(autox tires suck for drags).
Well at the extreme other end of the property there was a porsche club event. We decided to go over there and check it out.
When we got there we met a friend(didn't know he was there) with his American sedan car. He came down to run in the event.
He talked us into signing up. We told them that we were a couple drag racers checking out what they were doing.
At that time the porsche club ran their events different than SCCA. they had multiple cars on couse at the same time and you ran as a group doing continuous laps for a period of time. if you got to close to the back of somebody and wanted to pass you would beep your horn and the next lap the car in front would pull into a passing area on the course and let the following car by.
Well these guys bought into the idea that we were just a couple of drag racers with no clue "WRONG" We were in full autox trim
down to our BFG TA R1's (that look identicle to the current drag radial)
The course was set up with cones defining the inner part of the course and hay bales the outside perimeter of the course. If you spin toward the outside you go into the hay bales instead of a chain link fense or concrete barrier.
We ran my car only my friend road shot gun we entered the course with some other cars(porsches) and started to make some laps. The fun began. we were on the horn trying to pass porsches ahead of us. They let us pass. As we made laps a event official flaged us to slow down. We couldn't figure out why. Our group was called into the staging lanes to end our run group
Our friend with the American sedan car( he was watching us on course) walked up to us as we waited for another turn to go out. He mentioned that some of the other owners were bitching that we were going to fast(quick) and we figured they didn't like the fact that they were being passed by some "drag racers". hehe we loved it!
As our run group got ready to go out again, a event official approached us and said we could not run anymore with no explaination. So we pulled over and got out of the car and watched the group run. We then called it a day and went home.
Drag racing and a Porsche club event in the same day. Can't beat that with a stick.

if you get the flat ones, they never seal good.

if its not flat, but close, you might get away with cutting the flange between the front and middle tubes and the rear and middle tubes.. that'll let it sit up flat.

Having SLP headers on mine, I also tried SCE embossed copper
gaskets. and could not get them to seal. (they dont like slp header flanges i guess). I have had success with Felpro 1404 "IF"you can't get a set of SLP gaskets for them.(EXPENSIVE) but seem to work the best.

heard from a friend who was there that it was hotter than hades
,humid and after his runs he had sweat pouring down his face. the only relief was for those who had AC in their cars in the stagging lanes to cool down.
