Nordskog Direct Fit Digital Dash (84-90)--PN: DP4004

Considering purchasing this dash for my 89 RS. I spoke with a representative from Nordskog and to be honest I was impress with the dash. Would prefer not to buy sight unseen or without a recommendation from someone that is or has actually used one.

Thanks

Ron

I don't have one but Dakoda Digital makes a nice digital dash. Here's the link.

That is very cool... I do not have a picture of Nordskog's dash -- Hence the reason for my post--Summit sells them -- the part number is npd-dp4004. Diff in cost is interesting...Dakota is 575.00 and Nordskog is 466.00 if you buy direct and 389.00 from Summit. I know price these days has little to do with quality. Do you know of anyone that has the Nordskog dash?

I have it. Here's a review I wrote and posted a while back. It should tell you everything you need to know.

<a href="http://www.pcola.gulf.net/~jza/dashreview2.html">Dash Review</a>

Here's a picture of the kit. You have to buy the speedometer sender seperately. You don't need to use it, but it makes everything work better and the speedometer reads quicker.

Jza, outstanding article! My hat is off to you. I hate (sounds like a nightmare to install) to say it but I think I want the Nordskog unit. I know I will never hit the track but I would like to see my 1/8th and 1/4th mile times. Lots and lots of very sweet back-roads here. And I sincerely doubt that I will be pulling anybody 9s. Which unit did you decide to use? How long ago was it that you did the comparison? If it has been a while do you think Nordskog's instructions got any better?

>Which unit did you decide to use?

I'm using the Nord-Skog dash right now, but I've had both, which is what I based the review on.

>How long ago was it that you did the comparison?

I did that back in January. I wouldn't know if their instructions have improved or not by now, but if not, and you decide to order one, I can help you if you have any problems. I took lotsa pictures while I installed mine.

There was also a couple errors I noticed when I reread it, but they're minor. The 0-60 timer actually has a 25 or 30 second upper limit; if you take longer than that to get to 60 it just displays "SLO". Same thing goes for the 1/4 mile timer.
Also the speedometer does read over 300 mph (not that any of us is ever gonna get a Camaro up that fast), I've had it reading well over 550 when I was trying to advance my odometer to my car's actual mileage.

>Those pictures were just right.....

Yeah, but before I edited the message, they were 1076x760 (huge!).

Did you get your dash at Summit? Or do you have another source? 389.00 hurts! Wonder if I can get some folks interested in a group purchase and try and reduce that price?

I called Nord-Skog and they want 466.00 for the dash. Summit has it for 389.00. I am going to order mine today and yes I am sure I will need help with the install.

Thanks

Cool, just let me know. I hope you ordered the speedometer sender, too. I really, really, recommend you get it. The dash reads the signal from their speed sender SO much faster than from the stock VSS (I guess because one is 8000 pulses/mile where the stock is 2000 pulses/mile).

What else should you order besides the speedo thing? What adaptor did you use for the CTS? Thanks for all your help.

The adapter was just a brass pipe fitting I got from Lowes for $2.12. That's all you really need outside what comes with the dash.
