I never thought that this software could be so accurate. My buddy just dynoed his motor and the camquest was only off by 6hp and 8ftlbs of torque. The guy on the dyno told him that the new software is pretty accurate on NA motors. The amazing thing is that even though it was off a few hp, it got the power curve exactly like the dyno. I know there is no replacement for the dyno but I think I might order this just so I can play with cam ideas when I put my big block in.Have any of you guys used this software?
dug this one up on a search. Has anyone else dynoed after using this program? I spent about 4 hrs playin with it for my toys and the wifes rustang. Kinda like engine porn
years ago when my engine was built and dynoed, we compared the Desktop dyno results to the actual results off the engine dyno. It read alittle low! compared to a real dyno. So IMO the desktop dyno is reasonable accurate if the info put in it by the user is accurate
Well i just got it and for free i think its fantastic. However i tried to modle the factory LB9 TPI 305 so i can make up a plan for future mods and with very tame cam close to the factory spec the hp came close at like 227 vs actual 215 but the torque was way off at like 350 vs the actual 275. I dont have the actual head flow data so i used the poorest flowing head they had to offer on the simulator and even when i made a custom flow rate based on a reduced vertion of there factory unmodied heads it still was about 75 ftlbs of tq off. I used the correct compression factory TPI intake everything else should be right. Any ideas whats causeing the torque numbers to be so far off?
yeah, i actually used the AFR 195 info they had there. mine are not the new eliminator heads, but i dont see why it would be that far off.

Check youre AFR and your timing. Maybe its running rich, or lean, or maybe your timing is off.
But if it runs fine, dont worry about it. Computers arent always right.
i downloaded the free version yesterday, with everything i have the camquest showed over 500 hp and around 489 ft tq.
HOWEVER, i went to the dyno a few weeks ago and i dynoed only 341 hp.
the tq was at 410 ft lb.
what do you guys think, would the drivetrain rob that much power. and is it normal for the tq and hp curves to be that far off.....
It's been a while, but I thought 15% loss with a manual trans was normal. ~20% for an automatic. Still sounds like you are missing a few ponies though...
Some also claim a 5% loss for rear wheel drive cars in the rear axle. Cant verify if its true or not but it does seem like your output is alittle low. Granted thats assuming this simulation is good and the data inputted is correct and you have a good tune. I would re check your tune first. You also have too keep in mind our exhaust systems suck. The simulator with the options we have cannot account for this. Even when modded thell be good enough for your average street car but for 500 hp? No. I would guess this is where your loseing some HP.
