B&M Hammer shifter???

Ok right now I have the Hurst V-matic 2 in my car it has a 700R4 with 2600 stall and if you dont know the Hurst has dual functions meaning you can either leave it in drive and it changes gears by itself and if you go to neutral and press down and back it is in rachet mode and you have to change the gears. Ok now for the question I wanna to get a new shifter (the hurst in wore out) and i was looking at the B&M hammer shifter and i did a search but it didnt quite answer my question the the B&M have the same option as the Hurst or is it full rachet. To be honest I really dont care if it doesnt I would really like to know before i buy it, I think its the wow factor! And just one more question as far as quality on a scale 1-10 what you would rate the B&M shifter thanks for any advice. Thanks

Daniel

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

ive always wanted the hammer shifter. i have the B&M megashifter currently. it works great ive had it for over 5 yrs. the megashifter is similar to the hurst v matic except you pull instead of pressing down. the hammer shifter i believe you have to ratchet it all the way down to 1st gear. you can also just leave it in OD and the tranny will shift normally.........

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

I would rate the B&M Megashifter from a 1-10 a 9.. It is a great shifter that also ratchets or what you call hammers or you can leave it in Drive and let the trans do the work. Below is a pic of mine installed in the car

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

Sweet! thanks thats info i was looking for. I think its the shifter i have been looking for. Also i dont think that the hurst is really set up for a 700R4 so this should be alot better for the trans itself.

Thanks again
Daniel

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same shifter, i know you are talking about the Megashifter but im talking about the Hammer shifter which i guess is very close, both seem to be ratchet which is what im really looking for but i dont want a shifter i wont like. i love the hurst but it is just worn out. thanks for the help

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

That's awesome dude! My friend has a Mustang and he cannot manage to get the transmission shift cable to be rightly installed.

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

The only way to really be sure if it is what you want is to see one. This is a true ratchet shifter because you can't just put it in drive then shift to 2nd or 1st gear. You have to ratchet it to down to each gear, then you have to ratchet it back each gear. If you leave it in D or O/D the trans will do all the work.

Re: B&M Hammer shifter???

Yeah I know what you mean I actually found somthing on youtube and a guy showed you how it worked and i loved it thanks for your help. I want something that if I want to drive normal it will and then if i want to down shift in 2nd and punch it or race at the strip i just to first and give it hell. With my hurst i would leave it in ratch mode and drive around like that.
When I get and install it i will post whatever i think
