AC delete pulley

i was wondering if this pulley would fit in my 86 iroc, the reason why im asking is because i feel like the engine is the same and the pulley would go in the same place for most cars not just 87-90

Re: AC delete pulley

Except don't you have a V belt pulley system and this one is for serpentine belts?

Re: AC delete pulley

hm im not really sure, this is what i got though.

i wanted to remove the AC part completely and put in a firewall cover and then put blower back in, not sure about it any more though, but my AC also currently doesn't work, so why have dead weight.

Re: AC delete pulley

Oh, Ok, yours has the AC compressor on the driver side. Later ones have it on the passenger side. I think that's the difference. At least the heater still works

Re: AC delete pulley

Excuse the blurry picture. If you can find a pulley to fit for the drivers side all you'll have to do is get a different size belt and by removing the ac you're saving about 45lbs

Re: AC delete pulley

Sometimes the manufacturers change the casting, which changes the position of the pulley. If it's not listed as fitting an 86. It more than likely wouldn't be a direct bolt on fix for you.

Re: AC delete pulley

86 has V-belts. To remove the A/C system, cut the belt, unbolt everything. You're done. The power steering pump runs off of two v-belts to prevent squealing, the a/c belt being one of the two, but I didn't have a problem in mine.

Edit: Looks like you have the 87 V-belt Serp Belt hybrid. Same procedure. As for the firewall junk, you either have to get a heat only box (still huge and ugly), or go 1LE style and delete the whole blower and vent system.

Re: AC delete pulley

the a/c deletes are for those who have the serpentine only setups and want to keep the factory size belt and routing. the v-belt and serpentine setup does not need a bypass since the v-belt going to the compressor doesn't drive anything else; remove the belt and you're good to go. free mod!

Re: AC delete pulley

I just put the A/C delete pulley on my 91' Z28 and it works great and also took off my smog pump because it was locked up. I just got a new belt and it works great the belt number is 968K6 just so everyone knows.

Re: AC delete pulley

I hated the looks of the delete pulley so much I reinstalled the compressor. I know its big and bulky and weaghs a ton but at least it looks like it belongs on the engine.
And yes I used the same belt with the delete pulley.
