Then I would save any engine modifications until later. The best mod I did to my car was the sub-frame connectors. They tightened up the entire chassis and made the car "Feel" faster simply by it not rolling like a boat every time I turned or accelerated. Then do headers if you want. Otherwise do shocks, control arms, A-arms, pan hard bar, new torque arm first. BMR and UMI sell kits. Once that's done go after the other mods.

I like the spirit of what you are saying. But in this particular case (DynoDon's Headers), if you want them, you'd better get in line now. In another thread here, Don has indicated that he is building his final batch of these. "Tomorrow" may not be an option.

I can't wrap my head why anyone would buy mild steel headers when you can buy significantly better tig welded stainless steel headers for half the cost.

That said, IIRC, they're 1-3/4". Not knocking his headers and the Y-pipe offering is probably a step above the otherwise poorly designed aftermarket stuff (as in restrictive) but your stock engine would probably deliver better results from a seat of the pants perspective with a 1-5/8" headers. It's tends to bring the peak torque RPM down to a more streetable level as well as a boost in torque at lower revs.
The Vortec 350 I once had responded well to Edelbrock shorties. It was a little more than stock but felt great on the street. When I stepped up the game and (optimistically) was approaching the 400 HP mark, the 1-5/8" where still the size of choice.
What's more the 1-5/8" offers somewhat better clearances in the chassis as well as spark plug access.
There's my two cents.

Re: Dyno Don's Headers

That's what the forums are for.
FWIW, I'm only relating personal experience.
Now, if Don's headers are 1-5/8" then it's a win/win in my books.

Re: Dyno Don's Headers

Hi, I keep getting conflicting information as to whether Don is still building these headers. One post said he is retiring..... another says he's back to making them. I am definitely interested if he (you) are still at it. Thanks
